PARTICIPATING CHARITY //

Mentoring Plus is a local youth charity in Bath that supports young people struggling with education, family, isolation or emotional harm. They train and match adult volunteers to mentor 7-21 year olds from their community one to one. Mentors introduce new ideas, build confidence and wellbeing, and help achieve precious potential.

"Mentoring Plus are teaming up with Bath Marches for the third year in a row and appealing for people to sign up and help raise vital funds for the charity in order that they can reach more vulnerable young people with their mentoring programs and activities. The marches is a fantastic day out which the whole family can get involved in with well-marked out routes, snack stops, great company and beautiful landscapes to discover.

One of our previous walkers and mentors said ‘I did the walk firstly because I love hiking but more importantly because I wanted to support a worthy cause. It was a wonderful hike in the south Cotswolds and the day was made all the better by the informative cultural and historical talks. Added to this, clement weather, some excellent company, a surprising lack of blisters and a good pint at the end made it a thoroughly decent day."

The Genesis Trust exists to offer immediate practical help to people who are hungry, homeless, and vulnerable, and provide long-term help and opportunities for them to rebuild their lives. We work individually with people on their journey from despair to hope, from crisis to independence.

PARTICIPATING CHARITY // Breakthrough

Breakthrough is a UK charity based in Bath, supporting adult survivors of trauma and abuse. 1-in-5 people experience trauma (childhood abuse, accidents, domestic violence, sexual assault) during their lifetime.

"We provide specialist therapy, support and wellbeing services; a crisis helpline for service-users; befriending; and mental health courses. We also provide training for friends & family, businesses, churches and other community organisations in how to provide effective support for those struggling with their mental health.

In the last financial year, despite multiple lockdowns, Breakthrough were able to run 642 therapy sessions, 47 group sessions for up to 16 people, and received 143 new referrals for support. We also trained 450+ people across 23 online training courses.
Our crisis helpline for service users in distress and at risk of harm to themselves or
su***de has responded to over 400 crisis calls in the last 6 months."

The Bath Marches return on Saturday 3rd September and this time with the addition of a new, shorter route.

Once again, we'll be setting off from The Bath Recreation Ground and along the 3 routes (4, 9 or 15 miles), where you'll find snack stops and plenty of support from our team.

This is a family-friendly event and under 18s go free (as do dogs!)
