🟢🟡 WEEKEND REVIEW 🟡🟢

The Youth XV:
Beddau Youth made an impressive start to their Cardiff Rugby Mid 2 League campaign on Friday evening as they recorded a convincing 31-0 victory over Llantrisant Youth at Mount Pleasant Park.
It was an excellent all-round performance from the young Green & Golds, who combined some impressive attacking rugby with a determined defensive display to keep their visitors scoreless.
Beddau crossed for five tries during the contest, with Celyn Liddon, Carter Williams, Tom Parker, Taylor Downes and Alfie Abercrombie all getting their names on the scoresheet.
Leon Howe added two conversions, while Taylor Downes also converted a try to complete the scoring and give Beddau a 31-point haul.
While the five tries demonstrated Beddau’s attacking threat, keeping Llantrisant scoreless was equally pleasing and reflected the work and commitment shown across the side throughout the game.
Youth Head Coach Matthew Smith said:
“It’s great to get the season underway and, most importantly, start with a win. At times we became a little scrappy, probably because the more we got on top, the more everyone wanted to make things happen. There are certainly areas we can improve, but a bonus-point win and keeping the opposition scoreless is something you’ll take any day of the week. Credit to Llantrisant as well; they kept battling and competing right until the end.”
The result gives Beddau Youth a positive start to their league programme and continues the development of another exciting group of young players representing the club.
Final Score:
Beddau Youth 31-0 Llantrisant Youth
Tries: Celyn Liddon, Carter Williams, Tom Parker, Taylor Downes, Alfie Abercrombie
Conversions: Leon Howe (2), Taylor Downes

A Second Win for our First XV:
Beddau continued their winning start to the new WRU Admiral Community Premiership season on Saturday afternoon, overcoming Llangennech 22–17 in a hard-fought contest at Mount Pleasant Park.
Following the opening-day bonus-point victory at Bedwas, the Green and Golds returned home looking to maintain their early momentum. In difficult conditions, they were made to work throughout by a determined Llangennech side, but four tries ultimately proved enough to secure another valuable league win.
Beddau made the perfect start when flanker Sam Gibson, making his 50th appearance for the 1st XV, crossed for the opening try after just six minutes. Ollie Wilde added the conversion to give the hosts an early 7–0 advantage.
Llangennech responded with a penalty after 16 minutes before a converted try on 28 minutes brought the visitors level at 10–10.
The Green and Golds regained the initiative four minutes later when ho**er Corrie Tarrant went over for Beddau’s second try of the afternoon.
There was still time for another important score before the interval. Joe Page crossed before half-time to give Beddau a 17–10 advantage at the break and send the home side into the changing rooms with their noses in front.
Prop Sam Bixby was on the scoresheet again after the restart. The score secured the four-try bonus point and extended Beddau’s advantage to 22–10.
Llangennech refused to go away, however, and a converted try after 65 minutes reduced the deficit to just five points.
That set up a tense finish at Mount Pleasant Park, with the visitors pushing for a score that could have turned the contest around. Beddau’s defence stood firm, though, and the Green and Golds showed plenty of character to see out the closing stages and secure a 22–17 victory.
The result gives Beddau a second successive Premiership win and another bonus point, following their 26–20 success at Bedwas seven days earlier.
The New Culture Coffee Shop Player of the match was Lloyd Evans.

Colliers Continue Winning Start:
There was also plenty to celebrate for the Beddau Colliers XV, who made it back-to-back victories with an impressive 33–10 win over Aberdare at Yorkdale.
Following their 38–24 opening-day success at Llantrisant, the Colliers produced another strong performance in the new CCC League.
Owain Nash, Owain Cotter, Alfie Egan and Efan Jones all crossed for tries, while Beddau were also awarded a penalty try. Jones enjoyed a productive afternoon from the tee as well, adding three conversions.
The 33–10 victory means the Colliers have opened their campaign with consecutive wins and provides another encouraging result for the club’s senior sides. Fagins Player of the match was Efan Jones.
This completed a hugely positive weekend for Beddau after the Youth XV had started proceedings on Friday evening with an excellent 31–0 victory over Llantrisant Youth at Mount Pleasant Park.
With wins for the Youth, 1st XV and Colliers across the weekend, it was another excellent couple of days for everyone here at the Green and Gold.
