You're waiting to feel ready.
Ready to start. Ready to eat differently. Ready to walk into a gym without your stomach tightening. And while you wait, another Monday comes and goes, and the version of you that was going to "begin soon" stays exactly where she was last January.
I want to give you something today. Not a plan. Not a 12-week promise. Just permission.
✔ You are allowed to start exactly where you are. Not 10 pounds from now. Not after the holidays. Now.
✔ You are allowed to eat real food and enjoy your life.
✔ You are allowed to try again, even if you've stopped more times than you can count.
✔ You are allowed to feel comfortable training at home, in your living room, in old leggings.
✔ You are allowed to dream big about your body without apologizing for it.
✔ You are allowed to ask for help.
You don't need to be fit to start. That's the whole point of starting. The people I coach didn't arrive confident. They arrived tired of waiting. Then we built the rest together.
If something on that list landed harder than the others, that's the one to begin with this week.

You've been standing in your kitchen at 6am, trainers on, asking yourself the same question for the fifth time this week. Gym, or living room?
It's the quiet debate every busy person has with themselves. The gym gives you the kit, the focus, the hour away from the kids and the laundry pile. Home gives you zero commute, no waiting for the squat rack, and the freedom to train in whatever you slept in.
Neither one is "better." I've coached people who got into the best shape of their lives in a fully kitted-out commercial gym. I've coached people who did it with two dumbbells and a corner of their bedroom. The thing they had in common wasn't the setting. It was that they actually showed up.
That's why the Genesis System works either way. Gym plan or home plan, built around your life, not someone else's idea of how training should look.
So tell me. Summer 2026, where are you putting in the work? 🏋 Gym session, or 🏠 home workout? Drop it in the comments. I'm genuinely curious which way this lands.

I don't watch football. I couldn't tell you who's playing this weekend or why it matters.
But my inbox right now? Full of clients moving sessions around kick-off times.
My first instinct was honestly a bit of frustration. We finally had a rhythm. Tuesday mornings, Thursday evenings, Saturday lunchtimes. Now everything is shifting around a tournament I'm not even following.
Then I caught myself. Because this is the whole job.
Coaching isn't about clients building their lives around my schedule or my preferences. It's about building a plan that bends without breaking when life shows up. Football for them. School plays, work trips, anniversary dinners, a Sunday roast that runs long for someone else.
The clients who stick with this for years aren't the ones who never reschedule. They're the ones who reschedule instead of skip. Who message me on a Wednesday saying "can we swap to Friday because England are on" instead of going quiet for three weeks.
That's a win, even when it costs me a Saturday afternoon I had planned differently.
So if you're someone who's been waiting for the "perfect quiet season" in your life to start training, that season isn't coming. There's always a tournament, a holiday, a deadline. The plan just has to move with you. ✅

"I'll start when I feel more comfortable in the gym."
I've heard that sentence for years. From people who said it last January. And the January before that. The wait gets longer, the discomfort never quite lifts, and another year quietly disappears.
Here's what I've learned coaching hundreds of people who felt out of place under those fluorescent lights: the gym isn't actually the problem. It's the symptom.
The real barrier is walking in without a plan that matches where you are right now. Not where Instagram says you should be. Not where you were ten years ago. Where you actually are this week, with this body, this schedule, this confidence level.
When you have that plan, the room stops mattering. Progress happens in your living room before work. In the garage on a Tuesday night. In the gym on Saturday, because by then you know exactly what you're doing and why.
The structure travels with you. The comfort follows the competence, not the other way around.
If you've been waiting to feel ready, you're waiting for something that arrives after you start, not before. ✅

For years, I thought cardio was the answer and avoided the weights room completely.
I spent hours grinding through exhausting cardio sessions, desperately trying to burn off calories, only to watch the weight creep right back on the moment he stopped. The weights section felt intimidating, loud, and uncomfortable, so I kept running away from it.
It was an exhausting loop that many of my clients know all too well. When you feel out of place in a typical gym environment, it is easy to default to the treadmill and hope for the best.
But the cycle only broke when I shifted my strategy. By prioritising strength training and putting cardio second, I built the metabolic strength that made my results stick for the long run.
At Michael James Fitness, I designed the Genesis System to help busy people build strength and confidence without the gym anxiety. I give you custom training, simple nutrition guidance, and direct coach support so you can stop guessing and start seeing real progress.
Send me a direct message today to find out how we can help you build a routine that actually fits your busy life 👟

Most people don’t fail because they lack motivation…
they fail because they don’t have a plan.
Anil started exactly where a lot of people do —
unsure, nervous, not knowing what to expect.
But instead of jumping between diets or guessing in the gym,
he committed to the basics:
✔️ Calorie deficit
✔️ Hitting his macros
✔️ Getting his daily steps in
✔️ 3 strength sessions every week
Nothing fancy. No shortcuts. Just consistency.
And this is the result so far 👆
Confidence up. Progress visible. Momentum building.
This is what happens when you stop overcomplicating it
and start following a structured plan.
If you’re feeling stuck, unsure, or like nothing’s working —
you probably don’t need more effort… you need direction.

✨ Happy Star Wars Day ✨
May the 4th be with you…
I’ll admit it… I’m a massive Star Wars fan 🤓
Always have been.
But watching it now, it hits differently.
The quotes, the mindset, the discipline…
There’s actually a lot in there that applies to getting in shape.
Because let’s be honest —
Most people don’t struggle with what to do.
They struggle with:
Consistency.
Patience.
Believing it’s actually working.
And that’s where most people fall to the dark side 👀
This is exactly why I coach the way I do.
Not just workouts… but structure, habits, and a system that works even when motivation doesn’t.
If you’re tired of “trying” and ready to actually see progress…

Most people trying to lose weight are doing it the hard way.
More cardio.
Less food.
Same results (or none at all).
The truth?
If you’re not strength training, you’re making fat loss harder than it needs to be.
Lifting weights helps you:
Burn more calories
Keep muscle
Actually change your shape
Not just drop weight.
You don’t need to live in the gym either.
3–4 structured sessions a week, done properly, will get you further than hours of random workouts.
That’s exactly why I built the Genesis System — to give people a clear plan instead of guessing.
If you’re stuck, frustrated, or not seeing progress…
