Don’t ask whether you were perfect this week.
Ask:
How many times did I train?
How much did I walk?
Did I eat mostly decent food?
How well did I sleep?
What knocked me off course?
What will I change next week?
One bad meal isn’t failure.
One missed session isn’t failure.
Refusing to learn from the week is where the real problem starts.

Today is Relaxation Day.
Some men are absolutely terrible at resting.
If they’re not working, training or solving somebody else’s problem, they feel guilty.
But recovery isn’t laziness.
Sleep, downtime and managing stress are part of becoming fitter and healthier.
The key is knowing the difference between recovery and spending the entire weekend fused to the sofa.
Rest deliberately.
Then get moving again.

A good workout isn’t always the one that leaves you flat on the floor.
Sometimes it’s the session you nearly cancelled.
The walk you did despite feeling tired.
The weights you reduced because your body needed it.
The ten minutes you completed when you couldn’t manage an hour.
The best programme isn’t the hardest one.
It’s the one you can adapt and continue.

There is hope or you could be become a PT 🤣✌️
Don't worry if you didn't get the grades you expected today. This guy got a GCSE in PE and textiles and became a Professor at Cambridge.

Stop comparing your chapter two with somebody else’s chapter twenty.
The bloke online might be stronger.
The woman at the gym might be fitter.
Your mate might have lost more weight.
None of that changes what you need to do today.
Beat your last walk.
Add a rep.
Choose a better meal.
Go to bed half an hour earlier.
Your real competition is the version of you that keeps making excuses.

Young people don’t only learn from what we tell them.
They learn from what they watch us do.
If they see us avoiding exercise, constantly dieting, hating our bodies and giving up whenever life gets difficult, that becomes normal.
Let them see something else.
Let them see you training.
Cooking decent food.
Looking after your mental health.
Getting back up after illness or failure.
Be the example you wish you’d had.

Muscle isn’t just for looking good in a T-shirt.
It helps protect your joints.
It supports your metabolism.
It improves balance and everyday function.
It helps you remain independent as you get older.
Strength training isn’t vanity.
For men over 40, it’s health insurance.
If you don’t know where to start, message me the word STRONG.

“I haven’t got time.”
Check your screen-time report.
That’s it.
That’s the post.

Tonight’s dinner cooked outside on my little gas BBQ.
A proper burger, toasted bun, sweet potato wedges and a decent salad with feta.
And yes, the food police will probably spot the burger and bun before they notice half the bloody plate is covered in salad.
Because apparently getting fit means living on dry chicken, broccoli and sadness.
It doesn’t.
This meal had protein, carbohydrates, vegetables and most importantly it tasted good.
That’s what healthy eating should look like.
Not banning everything you enjoy.
Not surviving on rabbit food.
And not being “perfect” Monday to Friday before eating the contents of your kitchen all weekend.
It’s about preparing more of your own food, balancing your plate and eating in a way you can maintain without becoming a miserable bastard.
That’s exactly what I teach through Bodyfirst Personal Training and Coaching.
No ridiculous diets.
No food guilt.
Just proper food, sensible choices and a plan that fits real life.
And it always tastes better cooked outside. 🔥🍔
