Dear members,

Sadly, I have to announce that after a long period of trying to recommence our diving sessions, Bedford Eagles Diving Club will not be returning to diving.

Since our time away a number of the clubs' volunteer coaches have not been able to return to the club or have retired. As such, we no longer have a sufficient coaching staff to continue to offer diving sessions to our members.

I would like to thank all our members for their commitment to the club and I hope they have enjoyed their time diving with us. Also, I would like to thank all our coaches and committee members for their time and contribution to the running of the club, all of which has been provide on a voluntary basis.

We have looked into the alternative diving options available to member:

Club update – June 2021

The club secretary has had continued communication with Fusion / Robinson Pools about a return to club diving and we will provide further updates when we are able to do so.

Whilst we wait for this, can all members confirm whether or not they are intending to return to diving, once we are able to do so. This will help us with our planning to manage our return to the pool.

Club update - April 2021

The club secretary has contacted Robinson Pool on several occasions and they have advised that the hiring out of the dive pool remains closed. This is very disappointing. We will continue to push for a clear time frame on when Robinson Pool intend to start hiring out the dive pool again.

Whilst we wait for this to be announced, please can all members confirm whether or not they are intending to return to diving, once we are able to do so. This will help us with our planning to manage our return to the pool.

Club update - March 2021
Following the recent announcements by the government, we have contacted Robinson Pool asking it to confirm when we will be able to recommence using the dive pool. We will let members know a restart date as soon as Robinson Pool confirms this information to us.

Whilst we wait for this to be announced, please can all members confirm whether or not they are intending to return to diving, once we are able to do so. This will help us with our planning to manage our return to the pool.

Club update – January 2021
Following the lockdown announcement by the UK Government, Robinson pool remains closed.

Therefore Bedford Eagles Diving Club will not return to diving until a local lockdown is lifted, Robinson pool re-opens and access is granted to the diving pit. Any return will be subject to Government guidance and the agreement of Robinson Pool/ Fusion. We will of course continue to monitor the situation and keep members updated of any changes.

Update November 2020

Following the lockdown announcement by the UK Government, Robinson pool announced its closure until at least 2nd December 2020.

The proximity to the end of the school term, and the unlikelihood of Robinson pool returning to hiring out the dive pool immediately upon its reopening, makes it highly unlikely that we will return to diving in 2020.

To provide clarity for members, Bedford Eagles Diving Club will not return to diving until January 2021, at the earliest. Any return will be subject to Government guidance and the agreement of Robinson Pool/ Fusion. We will of course continue to monitor the situation and keep members updated of any changes.

Club update – October 2020
You may be aware that Robinson Pool reopened on 30th September for pre-booked swimming. However, Robinson’s has confirmed that the dive pool will not be reopening at this time. As such, we are not able to recommence our diving sessions until the dive pool reopens.
We will continue to monitor the situation for any changes regarding the dive pool reopening.

Club update - September 2020
Unfortunately, Robinson Pool remains closed and we have yet to receive confirmation from Robinson Pool or Fusion as to when it will reopen. As such, we are still unable to confirm when diving will recommence. We are continuing to monitor the situation.
We remain hopeful that diving will recommence in the not too distant future.

Any decision to recommence diving sessions will be taken in conjunction with appropriate guidance given at that time.

Bedford Eagles Diving Club Indoor diving in Bedford

Following the UK Government's decision not to allow the reopening of swimming pools in England, Robinson Pool remains closed.
As such, with the school holidays fast approaching, we have taken the decision that diving will not recommence until September 2020 at the earliest.

Any decision to recommence diving session will be taken in conjunction with Government and Swim England guidance, as well as that from Robinson Pool (Fusion).

Club update regarding Covid-19
The club committee have been monitoring advice issued by the Government and Swim England and, as such, feel we need to follow the recommendation from Swim England to suspend all sessions immediately.
The club will continue to monitor the situation and will update members through email, the page and the club website.
