A huge welcome to a new member to the team Stables Therapy Centre
Hi, I’m Gemma. I am a BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation graduate who enjoys working closely with people to help them move better, recover from injury, and feel more confident in their bodies. I take a friendly, supportive approach and place a strong emphasis on listening and understanding each client as an individual. A very grounded 13 year old footballer attended the clinic today with pain in his hip flexor. After palpating and talking extensively about his training. We identified his stomach muscles had gone into contraction due to the plank exercise therefore pulling on his hip flexor. The question is should a -3 year old be doing a plank exercise?

Today’s busy clinic included a female international hockey player . She thought her pain was in her knees when in actual fact it was her peroneal tendon which was inflamed presenting the pain in her knee. Ultrasound sound applied , massage on both legs and some stretches for this tendon to be added to all future pre and post match stretching sessions. 🙌🏼

A competitive male tennis player as my first client this morning. Presenting with shoulder pain. Of course in tennis 🎾 you put strain on the shoulder , there are no easy solutions but having symmetry in both sides will definitely help with the in balance which puts even more further strain on a tennis players shoulders. So my treatment focuses not only on the injury, but the opposite shoulder and scapulas on both sides. Don’t just treat the issue, find the cause. Active rest and three sessions recommended and will email some stretching exercises after their hands on session.

A lovely 84 year old female client recovering after hip surgery. It was not just about showing her exercises to help strengthen and regain her mobility. It was for re assurance and to lessen her vulnerability post surgery. A hands on session with gentle massage on both legs, not just treating the point of pain , ensuring there is no referred pain and gentle encouragement of how exercises can be effective to gain back full mobility.

A lovely gentleman client in today and though he had a hip joint issue when in fact it was his QL. The Quadratus Lumborum (QL) muscle is a deep muscle in the lower back, located on both sides of the spine. It plays a vital role in stabilizing the spine, bending the torso sideways.
A happy client as will be able to release in 2 sessions and have diagnosed the issue and even after one session he could now walk without limping.
