Avoid the temptation to cool down in these waters and visit your local pool instead 🏊

We have an information stall at the Forest Centre today. Why not pop over and find out a bit more about activities on offer?

PLEASE READ - Important information for the Millennium Country Park on Saturday 3rd September for Forest Family Fun Day:

• If you're not joining the Forest Family Fun Day but do plan on visiting Millennium Country Park on Saturday then it's worth noting that the Park will be much busier than normal.
• In a change from our usual opening hours, the car park and Forest Centre will not open until the event starts at 10am on Saturday in order to allow our team to prepare and welcome everyone safely.
• The car park may get full (including the overflow and event parking areas) and there will be more people in the gardens and on our pathways.
• The Sensory Garden will be open to the public, but will also be used for our ‘Nature Challenge’ trail so it is likely that this will also be busier than normal.

A reminder about payments on the day:
- The Forest Family Fun Day admissions desk is CASH PAYMENTS ONLY (£3 child / £2 adult)
- Many of the stallholders may be able to take card payments, but we cannot guarantee this for all stalls/activities.

**Please note: we do not have a cash machine/ATM on site – the nearest cash point will be in Marston Moretaine village.**

Thank you for reading - we look forward to seeing you all very soon!

Press Release - British Crowns to be claimed at Stewartby Sprints
Tuesday 9th August 2022

Stewartby Powerboat and Hydroplane Racing Club, this weekend (13/14 August) will host the 2022 Circuit Powerboat Association British Sprint Championship where seven Championship winners will be crowned.

The British Sprint Championship will see competitors compete in their respective classes over the course of four heats of racing with the best 3 results to count to see the champions declared.

Competition has been hotly contested so far this season for all the Powerboat Racing classes as they have been competing in the 2022 British Championship and as a stand alone event action is set to be fiercer than ever.
Reigning GT15 Sprint Champion Oban Duncan will make a return to class to defend her title. But with Abbie Haylock putting in a strong performance so far this season and new racers Elsie Walker and Riley Hudson competing the pressure is on the reigning champ will have her work cut out.

There is nothing separating the top of the table in the GT30 class but everything that has happened so far this season is out of the window and the Sprint Championship is anyone's for the taking Stewartby Racer Steve Olney is looking forward to the weekend's action. "The sprints always provides a great weekend of racing and is always a great social get together with friends old and new so I'm really looking forward to the weekend."

The biggest class of the weekend will see the OSY400 Hydroplanes skim across the water as the competitors lie or kneel face down just inches from the surface and speed their way towards the British Sprint Championship title but who will dominate?

The F2 and F4 Catamaran classes will bring lots of action to the water as both classes look to crown their champions as well as in the Outboard Hydroplane class.

Further on water action will come from the T850 monohulls where club Commodore Nigel Edwards will be in action and looks forward to welcoming the Powerboat Racing fraternity to the club. "We have a great Entry List for all classes for the weekend. It's great to see such a turn out after what's been a couple of difficult years for the sport. So far this season the racing has been extremely close in every class and with this being a stand alone event anyone could win. The action will be fast and furious and racing will be fierce and by the end of the weekend 7 champions will be declared" commented the Commodore.

There will be action on the water throughout the weekend starting at approximately 10.00am each day.

With great sadness Stewartby Water Sports Club would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kyron Hibbert following his tragic passing.

Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

The family of a teenager who died after getting into difficulty in a lake in Stewartby have paid tribute to him.

Kyron Hibbert, 13, was playing in a lake with friends at about 6.45pm on Friday (29 July) when he disappeared under the surface of the water. They raised the alarm to police who worked with partners to search the lake but his body was recovered in the early hours of Saturday (30 July).

His mother said: “My son Kyron - a beautiful, happy and healthy boy.

“You were just growing and being independent, but now you are gone so soon.
“We will love and miss you. Until we see you again, my son. God bless you. ”

Detective Constable Sam Ostley said: “This is a truly tragic case which has had a devastating impact on Kyron’s family and friends.

“It is an awful reminder of just how dangerous swimming in open water can be – through the shock of the cold, or currents or objects which may be under the surface. We would urge people to stick to designated swimming areas which are supervised by lifeguards.

“Our thoughts remain with Kyron’s family and we would ask for people to respect their privacy at this difficult time.”
