We’re really pleased to now have a selection of books by local Northumberland author Stephen Finlay available to purchase right here on site.
Stephen was born and raised in Morpeth and has been writing since the age of 15. His work covers a surprisingly wide range — from magical children’s stories and poetry to tales inspired by Northumberland’s mining heritage and full-length fiction for adults.
His children’s writing includes the magical worlds of Pudgell Meadow and The Tales of Rarl, while his mining stories draw heavily on his own background as the son of a Northumbrian miner and the communities that grew up around the region’s collieries. For adult readers, Ice Disciple moves into much bigger, darker territory with an adventure centred around dramatic global change.
One thing that comes across strongly is that Stephen doesn't stick to one genre or audience — there really is something for everyone on the display.
So next time you're in, have a look through. You can pick up a book, support a local writer and perhaps discover something you wouldn't normally have chosen.
