West Coast Badminton Competitions WCBC- A travelling circuit of community badminton across Scotlands West Coast. Launched in Kilmarnock and Oban in 2019 aiming to include more towns.

Entries are now closed!

We were pleased with last seasons 117 entries as that was a banging event and now we have smashed that figure with 155 entries!

We managed to get 3 pairs for the copper bronze ladies doubles so that event will take place, Unfortunately we were not able to get a third pair for the Ladies silver, We have 2 ladies players without partners looking for a bronze partner and if anyone is interested drop me a DM Sunday as I will be doing the draw first thing Monday.

Can't wait to see you all next week in Kilmarnock!

Last day to enter, and I cannot believe you have managed to smash our previous 2 record breaking Scottish entries from last season.

I will not be chasing your partners if they have not entered (with the greatest of love you are adults). I left it open an extra week.

The Ladies singles bronze and copper will not be taking place, as well as the ladies copper and silver doubles, unless we get another pair in each event. Both events are true to level, so if you are new to competing the copper is the event for you. We only need 1 pair in each doubles level.

A massive thank you to The Stitch Studio(clothing and branding), RC Helitraders (Medals), Ironside Racket Services(everything and more) and all of our circuit sponsors. Everyone of these businesses has been at the heart of the circiut and keeping it affordable.

RC helitraders paid the upfront cost of all our medals and that was a huge savings for us. Andrew from Ironside racket services, has abbe with me (Kerry) since 2019 doing these tournaments turning up on the day to provide a stringing service as well as a lot of the banter. Finally we have swapped out TCS-eco this season for my new business the stitch studio, if I had a full time job I would not be able to dedicate as much time to running the Ayrshire side of the circuit.

A reminder to all partners, we kept this open so you could all enter and there is still a few unpaid players. Please also check as we have had a few partners withdraw, we do have a gent looking for a doubles partner.

We are also welcoming a few JNR players into the copper where they are testing the skills they are learning in training against seasoned social players, this is definitely exciting for the WCC team.

The gents and mixed side of the tournament has had an amazing uptake. We still have space in all events (due to the low ladies numbers) if you fancy entering, these events all look true to level.

The ladies bronze doubles is also looking amazing and will go ahead. The ladies silver will not currently go ahead as we only have 2 entries, it will not run unless we get another pair or 2 to enter.

As with the last event we will not have a coppers ladies singles or doubles. We hope that because we are actively moving players into different levels we will get the copper players back and playing.

The turn out for the gents singles is amazing, thank you.

We have now reached 14 in the gents silvers, Looking at the other events we can take 2 more in the gents singles, 1 more in the gents singles bronze and 2 in the gents copper singles. These numbers can be adjusted but we have a massive event running and that's why we have limited spaces.

We've had a few messages requesting to pay next week, so I'm going to open it for a little bit longer to accommodate this. I usually have a slightly early closing to ensure I have the hall booking correct for the event.(2 weeks notice).

Coppers gents is looking amazing, so is the bronze (still room in all levels and they are in my opinion both true to level. The silver has very low numbers. If you are a silver looking for a tournament, have a look at this one as the games are going to be very competitive.

I love the Grange team as they are very supportive and provide an amazing service.

We use the Grange facility for a number of reasons. It's really easy to get to (especially for me, as I live around the corner), it has an excellent car park, the bus station and train station have a really good service, all within walking distance of the venue. When I chose the Grange, these things were all super important to me, after the issues with other tournament locations and parking.

If you need help picking a level, please drop us a PM and I'll have a look at your rankings and let you know where the best fun and competitive games for your level would be. If you add a note to your entry, I can also sort that. I've already sorted a few entries out who went bronze, not copper.

The games format we will be using is 3x 15.
Saturday
Gents Singles from 9.30, Ladies from around 10.30.
Mixed from around 1pm (please arrive early as we might be able to pull matches forward).
Sunday
Gents level doubles from 9.30
Ladies level doubles from 10.30.

The matches will all run on time, I will not be changing the scoring as I did the last competition, as we had extra booked time. I realise you are planning your days around what I say on here so I will be sticking to that.

I’ve just realised I haven’t actually been publishing the entries into the tournament!

That’s what happens when you’re decorating your house and suddenly realise closing is a week away… not the three weeks you thought it was! 😂

The entries are looking really good across the levels, and I’m especially pleased with how balanced the Bronze and Copper events are looking. A massive thank you to everyone who was happy to move into a different level, it really does help us make sure everyone gets competitive, enjoyable games.

We still have plenty of space across all events, and there are a few we can increase if needed, because I know what you lot are like… there will definitely be some last-minute entries! 👀😂

If you’re new to competitions and fancy giving one a go, this is a brilliant tournament to start with. We have a great social atmosphere, competitive games without taking ourselves too seriously and, most importantly…
