After being formed only 6 weeks ago, Belfast Swifts Mothers and Others decided to take on their 1st social tournament at Newry City AFC run by Kick 2 Connect.
Due to our ever growing numbers, we were able to bring two teams and the ladies had a brilliant day. With lots of football played between them, they got stuck in and didn't shy away against some very good opposition.
There were some sore legs (and heads 🤕🤯) the next day but they are already chomping at the bit for the next day out! Fair play to them all 🔵⚫
Our first player of the month is Seanin.
Seanin hasn't missed a session and is a brilliant team mate. Always positive, always willing and as we've found out more recently a very competent defender. She had a fantastic tournament and never stopped. Very well deserved 💪
Thanks to the 30+ Club and Go Sun Chinese Takeaway for sponsoring POTM for the Mothers and Other 🔵⚫

Our 2016s took on Berlin Swiftettes at the picturesque Advantage Park.
It was a brilliant performance from the Swifts against an opponent who has given us a hard time in the past.
It took us a few minutes to shake off the rust before we got off the mark with a quick fire double from Harbo. Our third soon followed after a wonderful corner routine and delivery from Teaghan, left Ella to finish from close range. Berlin's keeper was having a fantastic game as her kicking caused us problems. Their route one tactics had Lucia and Macie on their toes and forcing Amber into a few saves.
Into the 2nd half and Teaghan continued having a great battle with the Berlin number 10. Teaghan's driving runs were a problem for the opposition all day. Julia was always a willing runner up top and showed excellent feetwork to release her teammates into space. Éadzo D added to the score line with 2 finishes from the left hand side, the 2nd the pick with some great work to win the ball back in the corner, take it round 2 defenders and score. We got another goal from a corner before the pick of the bunch came from GD. Julia put the ball on a plate after a great through ball, GD then finished with aplomb with a delicate d**k into the far corner.
A great performance from our girls and against a great Berlin side.
Thanks to Berlin for hosting and to their parents for their hospitality at the end of the game.
Thanks to our sponsors Selby's Traditional Fish & Chips as always 🤝

Our 2013s travelled to Crumlin for a friendly against Glenavy fc. This was our 2nd game at 11aside and what a performance from all our Swifts.
The bigger pitch and nets are something our Swifts are getting used too and today we showed alot of positives throughout the game.
The 1st half kickoff with our Swifts flying with Ava scoring a great goal with a driving run through the Glenavy defence to finish perfectly into the bottom corner to put our Swifts ahead ⚽️
It wasn't to long after that we worked had a well worked corner that Emma received the ball on the edge of the box to smash the ball into the bottom corner to make it 2-0 ⚽️
Our Swifts started taking control of the game and moving the ball brilliantly between themselves and it was Cleena striking the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box to make it 3-0 at half time. ⚽️
We made alot of changes throughout the 2nd half as Emily and Katie tortured the Glenavy defence. Emily should have scored a few today and was unlucky with a brilliant performance. The goal of the game came from Katie H as she scored a wonder goal from 25yards to make it 4-0⚽️ and Katy earned a joint player of the match performance.
Another good team goal came from the right side of Pippa and Emma who played through Cliodhna who was sharp to reacted from Glenavy keeper to score into the top corner to make it 5-0⚽️ to end the game. Thank you to Glenavy for hosting today and good luck for next season.
Alot of positives throughout the whole team. Our defence was outstanding today who tried to play out from the back and kept Glenavy at bay. A special mention to Pippa and Katy standing in to do nets today and a clean sheet from both of them.👏
Joint players of the match Katie H and Fiadh. Both players were excellent today and should be proud of their performances.🏆🏆👏👏

Belfast Swifts 2016 GDP vs Plunkett @ the valley
The girls played some really good football and carved out some good chances.
Fiadh and Ella C put in some great corners and crosses and we were unlucky not to get on the end of them. Eva hit the post, eimear, Sienna and Freya were constant threats going forward.
Eva, Mia, Gracie and Lucy made some great tackles and getting the ball forward.
Violet was excellent in nets again today.
Despite the result not going our way plenty of positives too focus on and too build upon.
Well done to PoTW Sienna today, she worked tirelessly on the wing today, tracking back to tackle and getting forward. Well done 🙌
As always thank you to our sponsors Selbys 🔵⚫️

Player of the match was Sophia Murphy. Sophia was a real thorn in Newhills side today with her constant goal threat and speed. They couldn't cope with her. Sophia really helps her team out when they need her most. Well done Sophia 🔵⚫

In the first game of the day for the Belfast Swift 18s they took on a well drilled Newhill boys team. The girls were still half asleep when Newhill took the lead. Mala then went on a mazy run only to shoot narrowly wide. Emilia was solid at the back in the first third stopping attack after attack. Swifts got their reward when Rosa intercepted the ball and got it out to Sophia Murphy who played a lovely ball in front of the goal and after a bit of a scramble Freya poked it home to level. Later in the third Newhill went on to score and retake the lead.
In the second third the girls came firing out of the blocks with Sophia Murphy grabbing a quick goal to level the scores. Emelia really started to get her attacking game on with some lovely dribbling up the wings. Freya and Rosa again were composed with their tackling and breaking up the play, also creating some chances but the girls just couldn't get the goal. Mala was a threat every time she got the ball with her dribbling up the line. Newhill then went on to score another late goal to again take the lead.
In the last third the girls really upped their game after initially falling a further goal behind from a lapse in concentration. Not to be outdone Sophia Murphy grabbed her second of the game after some lovely work from Rosa to set her up reducing the deficit to one. Freya was then involved in another goalmouth scramble after a lovely pass from Mala but just couldn't get that final touch. In the closing minutes with Newhill still leading Emilia combined with Sophia Murphy after dispossessing the boys and a neat one two to set up the hat trick. Well done girls coming from behind to take the game to Newhill boys and come away with the draw 🔵 ⚫
