Our U16 girls took on a physical woodvale team at Fullerton park.
The swifts started strong creating a number of early chances testing the woodvale keeper.
Our keepers today were Jessica and Erin who both took turns helping out for a half each and did a fantastic job with both players playing like a sweeper keeper quick of their lines and making some great saves and distributing the ball well out to our defence of Meabh, Grace, Naomh, Coragh and Erin who were superb winning individual duals, making great tackles and showing great composure on the ball to make some great passes into our midfield of Teaghan, Amelia, Niamh, Abbie and Jessica who were outstanding controlling the centre of the park, playing some lovely one two’s and linking up well with our forwards of Saorlaith, Orlaith and Rochaidh who were fantastic pressing the woodvale defence linking up really well with each other and making great runs creating some great scoring opportunities which lead to the swifts first goal, a great ball through from Teaghan to Orlaith who took off towards goal with a lovely finish into the bottom corner 1-0 swifts.
This gave the girls the lift they needed as the went up through the gears, great play between our midfield and a great run from Teaghan and an even better finish put the swifts into a 2-0 lead.
Woodvale tried to get back into the game but the swifts defence stood strong Meabh and Noamh closing the attacks and Coragh Erin and Grace the outlet who played a lovely ball into Abbie who found Saorlaith who powered through the defence what a hit into the bottom corner 3-0 swifts as they went into the half time break.
The second half started as they left of both teams battling for control but the swifts put on a great display with some lovely two touch football moving the ball with pace using the wide players finding Teaghan who switched the ball across field to find Saorlaith who smashed it into the back of the net 4-0.
The swifts won a corner up steps Teaghan great delivery cleared by the woodvale defence but only as far as Amelia who caught it on the half volley into the right hand corner 5-0.
Woodvale didn’t give up as they continued to push for a goal but the swifts stood strong Meabh winning the ball down the line to Teaghan and another great switch ball into Saorlaith great touch and a super finish giving the swifts a 6-0 lead.
With just 5 minutes left the swifts won a free kick outside the box up steps Niamh great strike curling the ball over the wall and into the net 7-0 swifts.
Both teams battled to the final whistle but it was the swifts who came away deserved winners with an impressive team performance on the day well done ladies keep up the hard work in training as it’s paying off.

Our 2016 Blue team kicked off their campaign in the sunshine Vs a strong Glentoran team @ Danny Blanchflower.

After a few mins of both teams feeling each other out, the girls started to employ the high pressure, pressing game we've been working on in training to try and cut out The Glen's brilliant passing game and it helped us break the deadlock with a smart finish from Harbo.

Our midfield and defence had to work extremely hard in the heat. This graft lead to the next 2 goals. Éadaoin used her pace to latch on to a loose ball which she carried into the box before finishing well. Goal 3 is already a contender for goal of the season. Defender Lucia, nipped in front of the Glen's forward, took on the pitch and dispatched the ball with aplomb.

The 2nd half seen us have to deal with a lot defensively. Ella put in a real captain's performance at the back with a no nonsense shift. Macie was her usual stubborn self and had a great battle with the Glentoran number 8. Amber didn't have much to do between the sticks, but when called upon, made her saves and controlled her box.

Teaghan and GD then took the game by the scruff and drove us forward with excellent MF play. Teaghan peppered the box with cross after cross, causing mayhem in the opposition's box, leading to Julia's goal. Julia is becoming quite the fox in the box recently! GD was her usual combative self, covering every blade and breaking up play.

We topped the game off with a poachers finish from the industrious Fiadh. After more pressing from Éadaoin, with help from Harbo, they forced the mistake, Harbo unleashed a rocket which led to a fine save, only for Fiadh to be in the right place at the right time to finish neatly.

A brilliant start for the 2016 teams this week and a great shift from both in what felt like serious heat!

POTW was Harbo. Led from the front all game. It's a tough task leading the line on a pitch so big and she did it brilliantly. Tackling anything that moved, being a menace with the ball at her feet and getting a deserved goal. Well done, Harbo!

Belfast Swifts 2015 vs Lisburn Ladies

Today saw the girls start their new league in the Lisburn and Castlereagh League.

The game was entertaining, very end to end with plenty of chances.

The girls worked their socks off today and I am a very proud coach.

Congratulations to Mia H for winning Player of the Match. She played a great game in defense.

*MATCH REPORT: Belfast Swifts 2014/15s vs Sandy Row*

*Result: Belfast Swifts 1-1 Sandy Row*

*Squad:* Cadhla Ros (GK), Bella, Isla, Caragh, AnneMarie, Aoife, Roise, Faith H, Faith B, Elizabeth, LK, Evie, Fiadhna

*Pre-Match:*
A late change to the squad after a pre-match accident meant Georgia was unable to play. A huge thanks to birthday girl Fiadhna who stepped into the squad at short notice to help the team out.

*The Match:*
The Swifts started the game on the front foot with the two Faiths seeing plenty of the ball in midfield and bringing Evie, Roise and Aoife into play. The girls were unlucky not to take the lead early, with some great efforts just off target. Our set-pieces created real opportunities, but credit to the Sandy Row keeper who was having an outstanding game and pulled off some super saves to keep us out.

As has been the case so far this season, our defence was very much in control. Bella was dominant in her tackles, with Isla and Caragh adding real strength and support alongside her. With Cadhla Ros, not having much to do in the main in goals but credit to CR, when called upon handles everything in her way.

AnneMarie came on in the second half and once again showed great composure on the ball and in her defending.

Chances continued to come and go until Elizabeth made her appearance and made it count. Following a delicious ball across the box from Aoife and a smart off the ball run from Faith H and Evie, allowed Elizabeth who was on hand to tap home and put the Swifts 1-0 up heading into half-time.

LK was introduced at the half with AnneMarie and added her usual physical strength to the game. Similar to the first half, chances were created but just wouldn't fall for us, with Aoife in particular having a very strong second half with multiple efforts on goal.

Midway through the second half Fiadhna was introduced and gave us another option up front with her pace, allowing the girls to hit Sandy Row on the counter-attack.

The game looked to be in the pocket until a lapse in concentration allowed a ball to drift across the box and somehow find the back of the net for a late equaliser for Sandy Row.

*Summary:*
On another day this was a game the girls deserved to win, but the overall performance was excellent. A draw keeps confidence high and will do them well going forward. The team is really starting to click now as they continue to get used to each other and find their feet in some new positions.

Belfast Swifts 2018 Black, took part in their first league matches of the 26/27 season in a round robin at Blanchflower Stadium. Squad Sofia L, Mollie, Aoife, Mala, Sophia M, Isla and Saorla.
First game v Rosario 19s, got off to a flyer with goals from Sophia M, Mala, Mollie, Saorla and Isla. Lots of offensive work but alsoplenty of hard work to cancel out any breaks from the Roses.
Belfast Swifts Black v Woodvale, the girls allowed Woodvale to race into lead with a number of early goal, a promising performance after the girls rolled up their sleeves and started to tackle, hassle Woodvale and cut out the supply to their forward line. Tireless Sophia M took game to them and got rewarded by slamming the ball into the Woodvale goal.
Belfast Swifts Black v Immaculata, the Swifts came up against a very impressive team, who had great individuals with skills and pace in abundance who at times put the Swifts to the sword. The Swifts eventually got going and put in a good effort and backed each other up when trying to keep the Mac at bay.
New format for the Swifts lots of positives to take away from today. Well done girls

Belfast Swifts 2018 Blue began their 2026/27 season in a round robin at Blanchflower Stadium.

Squad:
Rosa, Luisne, Sophia McK, Sophie, Rua, Feah.

v Rosario Girls FC brilliant start with some fantastic football and goals from, Luisne, Sophie, Rua and Feah. The girls put in a great effort going forward, as well as working back into their positions defensively.

v Woodvale Girls. In a tighter match, the girls raced into a 2 goal lead with goals from Feah and Rua, only to be be pegged back with a couple of quickfire Woodvale goals. As the girls pushed forward and pressurised the opposition, they were unlucky to find themselves a goal down from a breakaway goal. The girls showed amazing to resilience and didn't let their heads drop, and goals from Rua and Feah again gave the young Swifts the victory.

v Berlin Swiftettes Colts. Another brilliant performance from the Swifts. The girls again raced into a 2 goal lead, with goals from Feah and Sophia. Berlin managed to pull a goal back, but the Swifts conituned their impressive scoring streak, with goals from Feah and Rua giving the Swifts another impressive win.

Impressive league debut for the Swifts, with the girls showing an impressive discipline playing positionally and covering for each other.

Today's game was a great opportunity for our 2012 Belfast Swifts to build on some valuable game time against a physical Greenisland team.

We have alot of injuries throughout the team and it this was chance to see our new players in action.

With both teams finding their feet throughout the game. It was Greenisland who broke the deadlock just before the break after lapse in concentration from the Belfast swifts team that lead to the Greenisland striker to toe poke the ball through the keeper to make it 1-0 ⚽️

We regrouped at half time and asked the girls to try and test the Greenisland keeper and she had a great game with a few fantastic saves. But it was Clara who got the equaliser after she made a brilliant run through midfield to score a very good individual goal to make it 1-1 ⚽️

A 1-1 draw was a fair result for both teams and good to see new players settled in and a chance for us to work on a few things in training next week.

Player of the match - Zara , she played brilliantly throughout defence today and worked tirelessly for her teammates.

Belfast Swifts 2016 Black v Immaculata @ Danny Blanchflower

What a game for the black teams first outing in the SBYL.

Such an entertaining first half with the swifts using the size of the pitch to their advantage.

Right from the off Eva scored with a tidy finish after some great pressing and a pass from Eva too clodagh we went 2 up. Immaculata responded before the half to make it 2-1.

In the second half immaculata took control and scored a few more. But the effort from the Swifts girls couldnt not be faulted, good first performance in the SBYL for them with plenty of positives.
