Donegal Celtic are delighted to announce that Tony Nelson has re-signed with the club for the upcoming season! 💚🤍

Last season’s top goalscorer has committed his future to DC after playing a pivotal role in our league-winning campaign and O’Gorman Cup success.

Manager Stephen McAlorum said:

“We’re very pleased to get Tony to commit his immediate future to Donegal Celtic. He scored some very important goals for us last season, none more important than against Glebe on the night we won the league and against Ballymoney when we lifted the O’Gorman Cup. His consistency in front of goal throughout the season was so important to us. We know he has his own ambitions and, as a club, we want to mirror those ambitions as he continues his career with us.”

Stephen McAlorum is delighted to announce Liam Mitchell as our new Club Captain for the 2026/27 season.

Following an outstanding campaign, Liam takes on the captain’s armband after being voted Joint Players’ Player of the Year and producing a superb season at centre-half.

Manager Stephen McAlorum said:

“For me, Liam was the obvious choice. He’s just come off a fantastic season at centre-half where, for me, he was the best in the league. But it’s not just his individual performances – it’s how he carries himself as a man and an athlete around the lads, always setting standards in training and on matchdays. Liam is at a great age to go and lead this team for the next few seasons as we continue to push to the highest level possible.”

Donegal Celtic can confirm that club captain Michael Byrne has decided to join Newington ahead of the upcoming season, taking the next step in his football journey by moving up to Championship football.

Michael played a pivotal role in our memorable first season back, leading the team to a remarkable League and Cup double. Whether at centre-half or left-back, he consistently delivered outstanding performances and set the standard with his commitment, professionalism, and leadership both on and off the pitch.

More than just a captain, Michael has been a fantastic ambassador for our club and is a credit to himself and his family. His dedication, attitude, and influence within the squad have been invaluable, and he leaves with the respect and gratitude of everyone connected to Donegal Celtic.

We would like to thank Michael for everything he has given to the club and wish him every success at Newington. He will always be welcome back at Donegal Celtic.

As one chapter closes, another begins. Our focus now is to continue building, improving, and ensuring the club continues to move forward.

Manager Stephen McAlorum and his backroom team would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who played a part in making our Presentation Night such a tremendous success.

A special thank you goes to the Men’s Football Committee, the Social Club bar staff, our loyal supporters, the players’ families, and everyone else who contributed to the evening. From the awards and fantastic food to the music and player drink vouchers, every detail helped create a memorable night for our players and staff.

The support and effort shown by so many people is greatly appreciated, and we cannot thank you enough.
