Today I covered a class and decided to place myself in à différents corner of the room for students to not face mirrors whilst practicing.
People love routine. So when they get a cover teacher and are told to face a different way, you’re in for having to explain yourself before you start teaching! 😅
So I did that exactly. I explained that I wanted them to look within more than outwards during the practice. Offered them the option to close their eyes during certain asanas.
And at the end, when I checked in when them, they had totally forgotten that they were facing a different way. They had forgotten about the mirrors. One of the students actually said that she heard instructions way better than usual because she wasn’t relying on visuals as much and her sense of hearing had sharpened during the practice.
I love my regular classes and I also love being a cover teacher and taking people through experiences ♥️🔆
Change can be good, if we allow ourselves to let it happen!

Weekly Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra classes have started at tonight and I’m so grateful for every single soul trusting me and this space ♥️
We explored some gentle qi qong movement and breath, practiced a few grounded earthy yin yoga shapes and delved into the red rose yoga nidra practice 🌹
There are some spaces available for the next three weeks, classes are every Friday, 7-8.15pm at 🌙
Every week we will explore different aspects of the practices so you don’t need to have attended this week to come next Friday!
I will hopefully be running a few blocks across the year, so see you then! 🌹
PS : if it’s movement that your being is craving, hatha yoga class is on every Monday, 6.30-7.30pm at too!
Lots of love!

Again, all in the slides.
If you have anything to contribute to this topic feel free to comment or DM me, it won’t fall on deaf ears ♥️
I believe in positive and uplifting change this year and the conversations and ideas that are starting to arise in the community are all so important and inspiring. It really proves that anything is possible when we put our mind and love to it ♥️

I bought this book in an ashram in Rishikesh in 2019, for the great sum of 65 rupees (£0.50). It was written, published and printed by Swami Krishananda in the Himalayas. Although it is missing the first 25 pages because of a printing error, its pink cover has been calling me back over and over again across the years when I have been needing the most.
In the slides, I have attached a few quotes I am currently reading in classes, reminding students at the start and end of practice, that asana isn’t yoga.
Asana is a step but if you truly want to practice yoga, it can’t be the only step. Attending a one-hour class every now and then is already a great step towards self-awareness but yoga isn’t something you acquire in yoga studios. It is not something that you can buy. It is not a service, not a workout, not something that you are good or bad at.
Yes, I have trained and practiced a lot and I hold classes, but I don’t own yoga. I can’t actually give you yoga!
All I can do, is share my experience, support you, encourage you and hold a space that is hopefully less distracting than the outside word for you to quieten your body and your mind. In class we use breath, mind and body techniques to deepen this connection with all the layers of our being.
Yoga comes after all this, within you, and only you can get to it. It is not performative, not shiny, not expensive. As much as the ego would love that, it does not require you to balance on your head or to wear brand new grippy socks.
“Yogás citta vrtti nirodhah”, “yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind” (Yoga Sutra 1.2, Patañjali).
In a world full of noise, ego and opinions, let us be reminded of this again and again 🩷

I’m back from a little break in Sardinia 🔆
And here are a few things to take from it/updates :
- I’ve been full time self employed for a year! It’s been intense but also incredible. I am still learning to find a rhythm and not overwork (easier said than done). I have learned more in this year of teaching and building connections in the community than in the past 7 when I have been teaching part time. And there is always, so much more to learn. I’m excited about what is to come! Thank you!
- We’re having an online chat with tomorrow (Monday), 3-4pm, to discuss and think together of yogic ways of improving the yoga world in Belfast and NI. All teachers are welcome. So many conversations are starting everywhere and it feels like an exciting time to gather, think and act together. The world needs it!
- I’m starting a new regular yin and yoga nidra class at in May (details in pinned post) on Friday nights. 1h15 of slow, deep practice. Spaces available, link in bio.
- I’m unfortunately going to have to pause my Tuesday evening class at for about 10 weeks because of a course I’m taking which has been moved to that night of the week. I’m still there on Sunday mornings!
- I’m going to be partaking in an advanced yoga nidra training with the amazing in October and I can’t wait to practice, learn and bring some more wisdom back to Belfast ♥️
Lots of love, hope you’ve been well!

Happy sunny day! 🔆
Like some, I don’t celebrate Easter. When I was little Easter was a time of looking for chocolates in the garden then painfully trying to pace myself so I wouldn’t eat them all at once. I loved it but because I didn’t grow up a Christian I didn’t really understand it.
Today, because of the path I am on, I do question everything I do. Not in a pessimistic way that would make me doubt of everything but in a curious way.
Svadhyaya is the fourth Niyama on the path of yoga as described by Patanjali all those years ago. It is the practice of self-study and reflection, “one’s own reading”.
As a human and as a teacher who has a responsibility towards students and does the work too, I spend a lot of my time observing my habits, thoughts and actions, going to therapy, practicing asana and meditation, trying to understand how much some of my current behaviors might be connected to past experiences.
Learning to dissociate what is truly the self and what is a consequence of our past, of other people’s influence on us or of society is not easy. It is actually quite a difficult task and can sometimes be painful. Most people stray away from it because questioning takes us straight out of our comfort zone. And as humans, we HATE being uncomfortable - and have somehow, with the lovely help of capitalism, established comfort to be one of the conditions for happiness. But doesn’t comfort sometimes get in the way of the true deep happiness of knowing one self, regardless of the difficulties met to get there?
So no, I don’t celebrate Easter. But it was truly a lovely sunny day in Belfast so I hope you all got to enjoy some of it whether it was a special day for you or not.
Thank you for coming to classes this week, it has been wonderful seeing so many of you! 🔆
