‼️CLASS CANCELLED ‼️

These are the words of Fredrick Douglass- “Wherever else I feel myself to be a stranger, I will remember, I have a home in Belfast”

Just 2 and a half weeks ago I travelled to New York to work on a show that was a response to those words. Fredrick Douglass, a slave who fled America and became an abolitionist, traveled and arrived in Belfast and Belfast welcomed him, we said NO to the slave trade, NO to slave labour. Just before we launched this show ; North Star in Belfast in 2024 there were race riots and here we are again!

What happened was horrific, I condemn it and the perpetrator should spend the rest of his years in jail. But one man does not equal all men!

We are sadly cancelling our class tonight for the safety of our community.

Community: that’s what we have, a bright colourful mix of culture, race and creed- you are welcome and you make our dance scene better for your presence in it. Know that we are your allies!

Please stay safe everyone and we will dance again next week.
