Yo comrades,
Can you believe it's been 5 years since we made the Warzone Dialectogram? (I feel about 20 years older, mind you!)
To mark the grim passage of time, myself and Billy Woods are putting together a public exhibition of the Dialectogram, on the ground floor of the Art College at Ulster University Belfast (the Birley Building) from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th October. As before, it will feature the Warzone Dialectogram itself, alongside a selection of Billy's portrait photos from inside the Centre.
And, we'll have a panel discussion and social event in the Art Shop (also on the ground floor of the Art College) on Wednesday 4th October at 7.30pm. I'll be putting some questions to Darseaux, Jonny Agnew and Aoife Branigan to get some different perspectives on the life (and death) of the Little Victoria Street Warzone Centre.
We'll be doing some vegan food and booze, it should be nice. Come down and have a look, have a chat - we'd love to see you there: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-warzone-dialectogram-5-years-on-tickets-714516276417
Spread the word!
Cheers
Jim

***ANNOUNCEMENT***
Now that the dust has settled and the hangovers have more or less disappeared we'd just like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone who made Warzone Fest such a roaring success. We really can't thank you all enough!
To everyone who has put in time, effort, donations, blood, sweat and tears - we couldn't have done it without you. Shout out to the bands who played, the sound techs, the cafe crew, the DJs, the artists and every person who helped keep the doors open. And most of all a very special thank you to all the volunteers because if it weren't for you we wouldn't have had a centre!!
We will be taking some much needed down time to regroup and organise a new space in the new year but if anyone has anything left to collect from Warzone we will be open on Wednesday evening for you to swing down and pick it up. Because we are moving out of the space, anything that is left afterwards will be chucked out and we won't be replacing anything when we reopen so please make an effort to come get your stuff ASAP. If Wednesday doesn't suit please make arrangements with one of our volunteers.
We have limited amounts of merch left which we will make available online in the coming weeks for anyone who missed out on getting shirts/prints etc. We will also be running a series of benefit gigs to raise much needed funds to put towards opening a new space so keep an eye out for those!
Once again a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved, we couldn't have done it without you. Until next time...
