And that’s a wrap for the Chairman’s XI 🤝

Introducing Waqas Muhammad 🏏

“Waqsy” was Academy’s opening bowler for most of a decade winning several junior cups in his time at the club. A popular member of that Academy era he was a wicket taker and a hard hitting bat down the order.

Waqas also played the first couple of seasons after the merger for CACC and helped the club get promoted back into Section 1.

We look forward to welcoming Waqas back to the castle for the game today.

Introducing Andrew “Big Fudge” Forbes 🔥

Forbes is well known his seam bowling and being an as of recent low order run machine.

Andrew played for Academy since the age of 16 and playing through until the merger and has found his spot within the 1st XI at Cliftonville Academy!

He also holds the accolade of potential being the most fined man on the team aside from the Skipper 💰

Looking forward to seeing what he has to offer tomorrow!

Another pick for the Chairman’s XI 🤝

Introducing Geoff Stewart 🏏

Geoff is well known for his hard hitting lower order batting and left arm medium pace.

Some of his achievements at Cliftonville include being part of the PL winning squad of the late nineties. He also captained the 2nds for many years and won Junior 1 as captain. Was MOM in the Intermediate Cup Final for the 3rds when they won it and played for the club right up until he left to live in Australia.

We all look forward to welcoming Geoff back to the club on Sunday 🤝

Next pick for the Chairman’s XI 🤝

Introducing Aadi Maini 🏏

Aadi joined the club in 2025 from CIYMS and has established himself at the top of the order for the 2nd XI and started this season to make some meaningful contributions at 1st XI level.

In the Premier League earlier this season against Laurelvale the 1st XI were rocking at 33/5 before Aadi anchored the innings batting 7 and saw us recover to 210 all out. He also top scored away to Donemana in our Irish Cup game earlier this season.

Aadi also has one of the best nicknames in the club, this season christened “custard” 💨 for his lightning speed across the ground.

Avadhoot Dandekar - Sponsored by RS Counselling 🔥

Avi was hugely successful and popular pro for Cliftonville during the 2014 season before going onto be Muckamores Pro the following season. He is currently in NI as Donaghcloney Mills sub pro.

Avi played professionally in India for Maharastra and amassed 1000 runs in about half a season for Cliftonville in 2014.

Hes also famous for scoring the least memorable daddy hundred of all time, scoring 149 in the second innings of an Ulster Shield game away to Glendermott. This hundred is often forgot about because in the same game Roy Silva who was glendermots pro scored 295 not out and won the game. Avadhoot scored many huge and memorable hundreds during that season including 199* v Lurgan, and we look forward to welcoming him back to the club on Sunday 🏏

Introducing Rishik Yalamanchili

“Little Chili” 🌶️ as he’s affectionately called by the skipper is one of the brightest young talents coming through the club.

Fresh off a trip to England with the NCU 15s last week Rishik was meant to make his PL debut on Saturday at laurelvale but unfortunately his flight home on Friday evening was cancelled, but he is scheduled once again to make his bow this weekend against Woodvale.

Rishik is a talented top order batsman in age group cricket but has made his mark and established himself with our 2nd XI this season with his leg spinning talent. For only being 15 Rishik bowls with great control and has a bright future ahead of him at the club 🏏

Introducing Alistair Speer “Speersy”

Speersy is another club legend and one of the most popular members of the PL Hat trick winning team from 95-97 who in recent years has started playing again for Waringstown 2nd XI.

Famous for being an electric fielder and fierce competitor. “Speersy” played all sorts of sweeps before they were fashionable and ran fielders ragged in the lower middle order.

The Affable Speersy will bring a lot of energy to the field for the Chairman’s XI on Sunday and it will be great to see him back at the club for the Legends Game 🏏🤝

Chairman’s XI next pick 🤝

Introducing Jonny Irons 🏏

“Ironsy” is well known for being Academys top strike bowler for a long time & also winning the Premier League with Cliftonville in 95! He also had a brief loan spell at Woodvale CC.

His accuracy in bowling 5th or 6th stump line was remarkable (even if it did annoy Davy G from time to time).

Ironsy was an integral part of the Junior Cup journey in 2000s and featured in multiple winning sides, and is best remembered by some for the phrase, “with all due respect, Shieldsy, that is bo****ks captaincy!”

“Neiller” is another club legend probably better known in the modern era as an International Umpire, standing in over 50 internationals between the Men’s and Women’s game.

However, back when TVs were still black and white Neiller was the hard nosed, fiercely competitive captain of an up and coming group of Cliftonville Players who went on to create history. He Captained the team to the first two Premier League league titles of their 1995-17 hat trick, and also played in the 3rd years winning team.

Neiller will be big crowd attraction on Sunday as one of the club Alikadoo’s favourite players he was a very popular sponsorship request 🏏
