North Belfast United Youth Programme is an exciting new pilot programme for young people aged 16 – 24 years.
As part of the Northern Ireland Executive’s ‘Together: Building A United Community’ Strategy, Ashton Community Trust has secured funding to pilot an exciting new programme that will engage young people aged 16 – 24 years who are not currently in employment, education or training. The programme, which has a strong youth work approach and is embedded in youth work principles, will be delivered in pa
rtnership with Cliftonville Community Regeneration Forum, Ardoyne Youth Providers Forum and Loughview Community Action Partnership with 4 mentors onboard. The main focus of our work is:
Mentoring
• Support from youth workers through one-to-one mentoring
• Support to access specialist services where necessary which will be based on the young person’s needs
• Co-design with young people individually tailored action plans that identifies their goals, addresses barriers and explores values and aspirations.
• Support young people to access specialist services to address need
Group work
• Good relations is a primary focus of the group work sessions and young people will engage in a range of good relations training.
• Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in a menu of personal development training
• Gain recognised qualifications
• Participate on a community relations focused team building residential. International Visit
• An international visit will also be part of the programme
Employability
• Volunteering opportunities
• Work placements
