Belfast IndoorBowls Indoor Bowls Stadium. Everyone welcome We have a great restaurant which is also open to the public.

We are an Indoor Bowls Club with 2 excellent green (13 rinks) We hold British isles Championships & matches here and also qualifiers for all the televised tournaments. If you want to access the club on a regular basis but not bowl then why not become a House member.

The most remarkable thing about this photograph is that Paul McVeigh (bottom right) actually turned up 🫣😂

These are the fine folk that make up our 2pm senior pairs A and B leagues.

In group A and fresh from his holiday to Turkey Mr McVeigh and his partner John Hagan had a very good win against Matt Stevenson.

Martin Nelson produced some excellent bowls with his friend and partner John McCloughlin in besting Clifford Bailie.

In group B E Ruddock made it two out of two and so tops that division.

Our pairs league at 7pm is going to be a topsy turvy competition this year.

Doreen Wheelan continued her and Tony Bells good start with another victory.

There we good performances by Coly O’Hare, Mark Leckey who is joint top, Gary Porter, Alan McMullan, Peter McGarrity and Chubbs Crawford who all recorded wins.

Another great day at the club, well done to everyone who participated 👏

One of the rolls of a club, any club is to foster the next generation of up and coming bowler, we have an example of that here with Irish selector John McCloughlin, Stephen Hedley and William Thompson who have taken young William Robson under their wing inviting him to compete and learn in a very difficult Tuesday night rinks.

William is a fine young bowler who represents his outdoor club Ballywalter with distinction and has already represented Ireland under 18’s winning a Silver medal this year in Leamington Spa.

Williams opening game was against Gareth McGettrick and a very experienced rink that included ex international Paul McEwan.

Gareth’s rink got the win but William played very well and will only get better as the season carries on with his rink mates help.

In the intermediate league the youth continued to shine with wins for Chloe and Molly who were playing with Keith Morrison and for Amelia playing with her grandfather David Moore, the latter are top of the table.

We wish William, Molly, Chloe, Amelia, the Fraizer sisters and Adam Copeland plus any other under 18’s well when they travel to the Baker Stadium on Sunday for the Open day.

Our 7pm results have yet to be listed and will be detailed later this morning.

This gives us an opportunity to look at the 3 other leagues that took place yesterday.

At 10am last years leading teams are at it again. Fred Simpson and Billy McConkey head the table on 6 points and are joined by R Cloke and D McKay who are also unbeaten.

Shout out to J Shortt who turned a narrow loss in week 1 into and narrow win this week 👏

At 11:30 David W Scott and co tried their best to turn an 11-0 lead into a loss against Alan Briggs.
The final score was 14-11 to David, you can’t switch off for a moment when playing a rink as experienced as Alan’s who deserved their losing point.

Denis McCluskey sits on top of the league with Billy Clinghan in second with David W Scott in third all on maximum points.

Liz Kinder has started the Aussie Pairs off really well winning both her opening matches and can be seen below pointing to the stars as she and her partner aim to take top spot from Mr Martin Graham although wee Bea doesn’t look completely convinced 🫣😁

Trying to go from a cricketing over arm “googly” action to a bowling delivery can take some time to get used to, but between them Greg, John, John and Gary are getting there but there is always one !! 😉😁

The boys put up a stirling fight playingGraeme Burn in the 11:30 league losing by just a couple of shots against the title holder. Well done guys 👏

There were some fabulous games played with the Sweetlove/Gourley match being a standout with a 12-12 draw. Is it me or is the most commonly tied game a 12-12 one?

Our Senior Rinks at 2pm sees the McFarland, Stevenson and McDowell rinks remain unbeaten with the top two facing each other next week.

Michael Merritt heads the 7pm rinks but only by a two shot difference from Richard Faulkner whose team had a very impressive win. Gary Eaton and Don Mills are also unbeaten.

There was a “Shark attack” in the ocean league with our all lady rink skipped by Allison McManus having an excellent victory against Lawrence Long.

There were two games with a 2 shot difference and one of the games drawing at……yep 12 - 12 !!!! This league is very open and we are seeing development from those who played for the first time last year and great energy from all involved 👏👏🥰

Just a flavour of a Monday evening at Belfast Indoor Bowling Club.

Rinks on the bottom green starting with Dean Mills the British Isles indoor player of the series 2026 delivering the jack and on the top green the Ocean leaguers as always enjoying themselves.

We will be full again tonight with two leagues and all 13 rinks being used and a further three leagues being played throughout the day.

Membership is still open, wether your a complete beginner, novice or an experienced bowler we have a place for you just get in touch or pop down to see us and experience the best kept secret in Belfast.

Beginner coaching times will be posted in the next week for those interested, keep a look out for the times.

We have the second of our MAGNIFICENT MONDAYS no doubt the club will be brimming with enthusiasm.

We have our 11:30 league with some looking to consolidate on last weeks performance and some hoping for a bit better luck this time around.

John Stewart and Ivan McIntyre look to have a very competitive match against each other.

The seniors pairs has an early season table topper clash when H McFarland faces G Hall.

7pm rinks has a number of matches that you would pay to see.

Gary Eaton plays Sandra Bailie, David Hamilton plays Michael Merritt and Gareth McGettrick plays Chris Mulholland.

The Sharks and Dolphins swim in the murky waters of the upper green.

John Leonard will bring his abundant enthusiasm to the green when his rink faces Anthony Haughey. Both these men have been practicing hard to give their respective rinks all the advantage that they can muster, I expect a close game.

Lastly an update of Fridays pairs.

And yes…..he’s back at it…the inimitable Stephen Hedley the all conquering king of the green in last years competitions started his campaign with an impressive victory alongside the marvellous Mr Ian McCoy. Mr Maurice McKeown started with a win with John Stewart and Frank Agnew shaking hands after a 12 all draw.
