2009 CLYFA B Result

Bellshill 2 - Mill Utd 2

Actioned pack game this morning at Ravenscraig where both teams battled out 2-2 draw. Bellshill started the game on the front foot in the opening 15 mins but were reduced to 10 men when Oscar Deans was shown a straight red card for retaliating to a late challenge on his team mate from a Mill Utd player. Even though down to 10 men early on Bellshill controlled the game and were unlucky to go 1-0 down at half time from an own goal from Conlan Little. Bellshill started the 2nd halve strongest and Kevin Oglivie made 1-1 with a great finish. Mill Utd retook the lead from a corner and had the chance to make it 3-1 from the spot when Logan Mullen was deemed to have fouled the Mill Utd Striker in the box. The Penalty was excellently saved by Big Ross Gray who also reacted sharply with and saving the rebound. Bellshill continued to press for an equaliser and their hard work paid off as Logan Mullen crossed the ball into the area for Riley Burns to head home to make it 2-2. With seconds remaining Kevin Oglivie broke clear and rounded keeper to get his shot away but it the tight angle made the finish hard and ball went narrowly wide of target and the game ended 2-2.

Despite playing with 10 men for over 70mins the boys felt they dropped 2 points today. Each of them dug in deep and put in a great performance.

Today’s Player of the Match went to Riley Burns who covered every blade of grass today and got his rewards with his crucial equaliser.

Best of Luck to Mill Utd for the rest of the season

Our 09s move into the next round of the regional cup after a solid performance at K Park this morning. Bellshill controlled the game from the 1st whistle and controlled large parts of the opening 25 mins. Kevin Ogilvie made it 1-0 with a great finish, Jordan Scott made it 2-0 as he leaped highest to head the ball into the corner. EKFC got a Penalty just before halftime but Aaron Bryne produced an excellent save to his bottom right and knocked the ball over the bar. ( honestly incredible save ) Luke McNaughton made it 3-0 at halftime with a top corner finish from the edge of the box. Dean Hunter made it 4-0 before EKFC pulled one back to make it 4-1 with 10 mins to go. Jordon Scott got his 2nd of the game with 5 mins to go with a lob over the keeper to make it 5-1.

Player of the Match was awarded to Jordan Scott who took his both goals well and put in a solid performance.

A game of two halves for the boys today as Bellshill Athletic 2009s came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory and finish top of the group! 👏

Bellshill started slowly and conceded an early goal. The boys gradually grew into the game but struggled to create many clear-cut chances before the break, going into half-time behind.

The second half was a completely different story. Bellshill came flying out the blocks and were rewarded when Jack Cook found the back of the net to bring the game level at 1-1. 💪

The boys continued to push forward, with Jordan and Max linking up brilliantly. Max was brought down inside the box, giving Bellshill a great opportunity to take the lead. Luke stepped up and calmly placed the penalty beyond the keeper to make it 2-1. 🎯

With just 10 minutes remaining, Kevin produced a fantastic run and forced an excellent save from the goalkeeper. Thankfully, Kane was on hand to react quickest and convert the rebound, making it 3-1 and putting the game beyond doubt. 🔥

👏 Well done to all the boys! A great second-half performance and a fantastic result to finish top of the group.

Now we look forward to the knockout stages! 🏆

Today Player of the Match was Luke McNaughton
