I wake up early.
Not because I want to.
Not because I'm one of those annoyingly productive morning people who journals and gets a workout in before 7am.

It's because perimenopause stole my ability to sleep past 5am then had the absolute audacity to make me feel exhausted all day.😫

I'm 50, I work at Aldi and I'm in perimenopause. I'm also a qualified yoga teacher and menopause coach and I built a space for midlife women because I couldn't find one that was honest enough.

One that talked about desire, identity, sensuality and all the things that just don’t fit anymore ( I'm not just talking clothes here ) alongside the yoga and the menopause coaching. One with no filter and no intention of getting one.

Is it for everyone? Absolutely f**king not. I swear occasionally. I talk about s*x. I told my entire email list about wild boar interrupting a private moment in a French field at midnight and I have zero regrets.

Turns out oestrogen was doing a lot of the heavy lifting in the "rational human being" department.

Who knew?

If you're finding that things you used to shrug off now feel enormous, things that wouldn't have touched you but now go straight to the bone and your ability to not catastrophise has packed it's bags and left, that's not you losing the plot - that's perimenopause removing a filter you never even knew you had.

The sleep, I’m working on, I've made my peace with the waistline but the not taking everything personally is very much a work in progress 😬
