River Match results
Top stretch alongside the pond
Sunday 13th September

First match since the river has refilled, pleasure weights have been reasonable leading up to today, and after the first hour it looked to be more of the same, but when the sun broke through the early cloud cover, it became a struggle for most.

Top weight today from peg 1 was John Spencer, pole fished caster on pole doing the business 🎣
Resulting in a cracking net of roach.

Second placed Tony Carline on peg 7 fished waggler and maggots, using his favoured cast and blast tactics had roach and dace.

We have recently received several reports of anglers leaving rods unattended while fishing.

Please remember that under the National Rod Fishing Licence Byelaws, anglers must remain in control of their rod and line at all times. Leaving rods unattended is an offence and may result in enforcement action.

Aside from being illegal, unattended rods can cause unnecessary harm to fish and wildlife and create risks for other water users such as boaters and swimmers.

Please fish responsibly and ensure your rod is always attended. 🎣

Some decent weights for the first round of the series, plenty of roach, rudd, perch with also 6 bream caught by the top 3 anglers.

Fishing his first ever match was Andy Cummings, drawn on peg 22 he waggler fished caster for 4 bream and also roach and perch to take top spot with 18lb 9oz. Well done that man! 🎣

The silver fish form of the river continues to show. Here, young Finlay did what his dad has so far failed to do, in banking a 1lb Derwent roach. He followed this up next cast with his first ever dace, at 8oz! Quite a brace for a seven year-old.

We're sure there will be even better to come as these fish fatten up for the colder months.

This was left on peg 10 of Wyver Lane Pond on Monday afternoon.

Any member caught littering will be brought before the Committee to explain their actions!

Phil Munslow had this lovely mixed bag from the Top stretch alongside the pond on waggler fished maggot.

Great to see a few more species starting to show now the river has filled back up, his catch of Roach, dace, chublets and also had
4 Roach/bream hybrids and 2 small skimmer bream 🎣
