Run by award-winning teacher, IDTA Examiner and ex-West End Professional, Alicia Afonso. Afonso School of Performing Arts is run by a husband and wife team, both West End professionals, with credits including We Will Rock You, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Top Hat, Thriller Live and BBC's The Voice UK. The classes we have on offer are in ballet, tap, jazz, commercial, musical theatre and more. We would like to encourage our pupils to participate in multiple classes, where possible, as we believe that it produces a more well-rounded, confident performer. We also have pre-school and parent&toddler drop-in ballet classes, following the Melody Bear Syllabus. Being parents ourselves, we understand how important it is for you to see your child happy, whilst developing a skill for life, and so we ensure you that our classes will be fun, yet structured and rewarding. We follow the IDTA syllabus and aim for all student to be entered for examinations, but it is optional. We hold 3 exam sessions per year, and usually one presentation or show per year for performance opportunities.

POV: it's Saturday morning and you remembered which activity is on! 🙌

This is our Principal, celebrating the small wins like not forgetting what day it is 🫣 Let's face it, getting our children out of the house and to all their activities is a job in itself. That's why we try to make it as simple as possible here at Afonso School of Performing Arts in Berkhamsted.

It is proven that children like consistency and parents need to find activity providers that are nurturing and they can trust. We pride ourselves in being approachable with strong values and good systems in place, making your (busy) lives easier.

Same teachers. Same friendly faces at the door. Same person on the phone if you need us. Every week.

💫 Calling all boys and girls aged 3-4yrs to join our creative, fun and imaginative Preschool Ballet class. Every Saturday during term time, in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.

If your child loves to dance along to music at home and is showing an interest in creative movement, give our ballet classes a try.

Their teacher, Miss Kate, is warm and caring as she helps build confidence in your child. All whilst making friends, and learning some skills along the way.

Tonight we had a 2 hour trial assessment class for our brand new Acrobatics class… the quote of the night was “can’t we stay for 3 hrs? We love it!” 🥰

Want to sign up for a trial next week at 17:00? Open to 7yrs to teens, all levels welcome as classes can work on mixed abilities. Split into two classes.

Acrobatics is a great way to build strength, power, skill accuracy and agility. Join Miss Harmony to learn tricks and tumbles in a fun and supportive space.

💳 CAN I PAY IN INSTALMENTS?

Yes! We offer payment by Direct Debit instalments, allowing you to spread the cost of your child’s classes throughout the term.

We know that makes things much easier for busy families, and we want joining Afonso to be as straightforward as possible. 💕

Our direct debit options are for our main school classes and are available for children and young people aged 3–18 years.
