We returned after the summer holidays tonight, with our Year 9's + first to try out our brand new look at the Northern View 🎨

Firstly, I would like to give a mention to our fantastic coaches tonight. I didn't get there until just before the start, and had to leave 20 minutes early, and with Jamie starting a job that requires him to work Wednesday nights, we were delighted to welcome Jimmy Purdon to our team.
Along with Michael & Steve they set everything up, packed it all away, and we're extremely organised when it came to drills and board calls, so a big thanks to them 👏

Back to the darts, and despite the break, the standard hasn't dropped, with Max Eamens hitting a 19 leg, whilst Toby Trotter checked out 106!
Last year's 180 king 👑 Dylan McCleary carried on where he left off with a 180 and a 16 dart leg 💪

We welcomed new start Ashton Doherty, who, after 10 minutes with Michael, had a go at the single to 180 challenge and completed 3 levels 😎
Ashton will be presented with his certificates at the next session 🏆

Well done for those that came tonight, it was great to see you all, and we can't wait to get stuck into this season.

A reminder that tomorrow the academy returns to the Northern View with our Year 9's +

We will start a fresh season of mini leagues, as well as some technique & strategy play with Michael Cornish .

For those lucky enough to be selected to come to the coaching masterclass with Glen Durrant on the 10th October, money to be paid by the end of September in cash please.

🎯 BDA RETURNS! 🎯

We return on Wednesday 16th September with our Year 9+ group (formally known as over 12's)

We will start another season of mini league games plus we will have groups concentrating on set up play, double hitting, switching & target hitting, as well as trying out the new Target academy routine.

We already have some great things lined up this season. We have entered into the North of England Junior Darts Academies League, which starts at the end of November.
We have a 'pre-season' friendly away to G10 Hawick Darts Academy on Saturday 3rd October to look forward too. I will name our squad soon, and we may need a couple of parents to help by taking their cars 🚗

Then of course 3x world champion 🏆 Glen Durrant will be doing a coaching masterclass to some of our players the following Saturday 👨‍🎓

We still have OMNI games to arrange, and maybe even 'Tungsten on the Tweed II' 🫢🤫

If anyone listed below can no longer attend on Wednesday, or doesn't wish to come back to our academy, please let me know ASAP.

As expected, The Masterclass coaching with Glen Durrant was extremely popular and sold out in no time at all.

We apologise if you missed out, but as demonstrated in the past, we really try to get as many opportunities as possible for our academy players, and we have other things in the pipeline here at Berwick Darts Academy 🎯

As we are in the bar area only, and to give Glen the maximum amount of space, we are asking that the players lucky enough to get a space, only bring 1 parent along for these sessions. This will be treated as a private function so doors will be closed once all players are in and ready to go.

We will sort players into their respective groups in the coming weeks and you will be notified what session to attend.

Payment to be made at first academy session back 😊

🚨 BIG NEWS 🚨

We are excited to announce that we are offering a limited amount of players a great opportunity to be coached by one of the very best in the game... Glen Durrant!

We have already offered some of our academy players a space that will, play for our academy team in the north east league, and players that have shown a willingness to learn by going to Michael Cornish one 2 one sessions 😃

2x 1.5 hour sessions, with 10 players to a group 👥👥

I understand with there being a limited amount of spaces, that there will be a lot of disappointed players that won't get a space, and we apologise for that 😞

If your interested, please PM this page with your details and if we have enough interest, we may put on another 2 sessions later on in the season 🎯 🎯 🎯

Michael Cornish has been giving one 2 one sessions over the past 4 weeks at the Northern View to our academy players. Here is his report:

Just spent the last four Tuesdays through August, taking young dart players, from the Academy for 1 to 1 lessons, and a couple of sessions with two players.

The sessions were mainly based on the Pdpa Darts 1️⃣8️⃣0️⃣ program and some games and practice routines. Catching the monster 👾 was very popular and also introduced steplechase a game based on a race🏁
All the sessions lasted an hour, and it was a pleasure. All kids were so focused and certainly like their darts 🎯
The kids are a credit to their families & our academy. Several passed the Treble level, checkout level and one managed to pass Bullseye narrowly missing the next level on a double.

Plenty of work going on behind the scenes at the academy.

I sent texts out last week to some players regarding a friendly against Jordans darts academy on Saturday 3rd October. This game will now be away to G10 Hawick Darts Academy, more details to follow.

The reason for the change of fixture, is because we hope to bring you some exciting news in the next week or so about us joining the North of England Junior Darts Academies League , where we would compete against the likes of Jordans Junior Darts and other academies from the north east. More details to follow...
