As the season draws to a close and the wicket is put to bed for another year, two club legends announced their retirement from senior cricket yesterday.
Kev Kelly 💚💛
A true stalwart of Betley Cricket Club. Across his career, Kev delivered over 700 overs and claimed 148 wickets, but his impact goes far beyond the numbers. Whether on the field or off it, Kev has always been the person you could turn to when times were tough.
Thank you, Kev, for everything you have given to this club.
Stuart Cheetham 💚💛
A man who needs no introduction. With over 3,200 runs and 239 wickets to his name, Stu’s contribution to Betley Cricket Club is impossible to measure. From player to volunteer, supporter to clubman, he has played a huge part in shaping the club we are today.
While his senior playing days may be over, we’re sure we’ll still find him helping to keep the bar open for many years to come.
First Team Captain Johnny Phipps said:
“Betley wouldn’t be where it is today without Stu. The respect he gets from every club we visit shows the class of the man. I’m proud to have been lucky enough to play in his final game.”
Thank you both for your years of commitment, dedication and friendship. Enjoy your retirement from senior cricket—you’ve more than earned it.
