A brilliant day delivering our Winter Skills course in Eryri ❄️ ⛰️

Today we focused on the foundations of safe and confident winter travel in the UK mountains, covering:
🗺️ Winter walking & mountaineering planning – understanding weather, avalanche considerations, route choice and decision making
🪓 Correct use of the ice axe – from carrying to safe positioning
⛑️ Ice axe arrest – building confidence in stopping a slip quickly and effectively
🥾 Footwork techniques – efficient movement on snow and ice to stay balanced and secure
Winter in the mountains is an incredible place to be — but it demands the right skills, judgement and preparation.
