🎣 CATCH REPORT – DUNGENESS
First time ever fishing Dungeness and I’d never even seen the beach in daylight before 😂
I arrived in the dark around an hour and a half before high tide armed with fresh lugworm that I’d pumped myself earlier that evening
The bass were on the feed pretty much straight away with my first fish coming within about 5 minutes of getting the first rod out!
I ended the session with 5 bass, with this one being the biggest of the night at 40cm 🎣
All 5 fish came on the fresh lugworm using a 2 hook flapper rig and most of the action was surprisingly close in
Definitely a mark I’ll be coming back to!
How has Dungeness been fishing for everyone else recently?

Now THAT’S more like it… two worms from one pump! 😂🎣
I’m starting to get the hang of this!
Still, hats off to the people who do this regularly to make a bit of money — it’s harder work than it looks! 👏
Apparently the technique is simple… find the cast, move about four inches away, pump at a slight angle and go roughly ten inches deep.
Sounds easy enough, right? 😂
Clearly I still need some practice though… we’re not after the little ones, we want the big mamas! 🎣😂

🎣 BAIT PUMPERS — HOW MANY LUG DO YOU NEED FOR A SESSION?
I’m still very new to pumping my own lugworm, so I’m interested to know what everyone else does!
If you’re heading out for a normal shore fishing session, roughly how many lugworm would you pump/take with you?
And how long would you normally fish for — 3 hours, 4 hours, 6+ hours?
Obviously it depends on the fishing, how many rods you’re using and how often you’re rebaiting, but what would you consider enough lugworm for a decent session?
Interested to see how different everyone’s answers are! 👇🎣
Now we’re finding the proper ones! 🎣🙌
Another decent lugworm out of the sand — at least I know there are some big ones here!
Starting to understand why people enjoy pumping their own bait… 😂
YES! Finally a proper one! 😂🎣
Had to grab him quickly before he disappeared back down the hole… I think I’m starting to get the hang of this bait pumping!
There’s something ridiculously satisfying about pulling a decent lugworm out of the sand 😂
This is something I’ve always wanted to try… pumping my own bait! 🎣
There’s something quite satisfying about catching a fish on bait you’ve collected yourself.
Do you collect your own bait, or normally buy it from the tackle shop? 👇
First one actually made it into the bucket! 😂🎣
At this point I wasn’t even sure if it was any good… but at least we were getting somewhere!
How did everyone else find bait pumping the first time they tried it — easy, frustrating or complete disaster? 😂👇
My first ever worm with the bait pump! 😂🎣
Although… I think I’m going to need a damn sight bigger than that! 🤣 Far too small, so back it went.
Would you have kept this one for bait or left it behind? 👇
First time the bait pump has ever hit the sand… 😂
I’ve never done this before, so naturally I prepared the only way I know how — watched loads of YouTube videos! 🎣
If you pump your own lugworm, what’s the one tip you wish someone had told you when you started? 👇
