✨ WE'VE MOVED! ✨
We are incredibly excited to announce that Westerleigh Judokwai has officially moved to our fantastic new home at the Heart of Sidley Hub! 🥋🎉
🏠 Our first session in our new home is this Saturday, 25th July, and we can't wait to welcome everyone through the doors!
⏰ Our session times have changed:
🥋 Tuesdays
🕖 7:00pm – 8:30pm (Adults)
🥋 Saturdays
👨👩👧👦 Adults: 9:00am – 10:15am
🥋 Juniors: 10:15am – 11:15am
As we're now sharing the venue, we unfortunately no longer have any set-up or tidy-up time before or after sessions. We'd really appreciate as many volunteers as possible arriving a few minutes early to help put the mats out, and staying behind afterwards to help pack them away. Your support will help us start sessions promptly and finish on time for everyone.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us on this exciting journey. We can't wait to continue growing our club, welcoming new members, and making even more memories in our new home.
Whether you're a current member or you've always wanted to try judo, now is the perfect time to join us!
See you on the mats! 💚🥋

A massive well done to our amazing Judokas for showing fantastic etiquette, dedication, and determination this week. 👏
Despite the incredibly hot weather, they continued to work hard, support one another, and demonstrate the values that make our club so special. We couldn't be prouder of the effort and respect they've shown both on and off the mat.
As a reward for their outstanding attitude, they have earned the honour of wearing the Etiquette Black Belt at their next session! 🖤🥋
Keep up the fantastic work—you've truly earned it! 💪👏

🥋 Metro Judo Club Visit – Saturday 4th July 2026 🥋
What a fantastic day we had welcoming Metro Judo Club to Westerleigh Judo! It was brilliant to see all of our junior athletes enjoying themselves, making new friends and sharing their love of judo.
Throughout the session, everyone had the opportunity to learn a new ne-waza technique and a new tachi-waza technique before taking part in some blindfold judo. This was not only great fun but also a fantastic way to develop balance, movement and awareness.
The session finished with an exciting game of tug of war and the ever-popular cone game, helping to improve teamwork, reactions and quick thinking—all while having lots of laughs!
A huge thank you to everyone from Metro Judo Club for making the trip over and helping to create such a positive, enjoyable atmosphere. Days like these are a fantastic reminder of how judo brings people together, both on and off the mat.
We hope to see you all again soon!

🥋Team Westerleigh Visits Metro Judo Club🥋
On Saturday 13th June 2026, Team Westerleigh had the pleasure of being invited to Metro Judo Club to take part in their fantastic Adaptive/SEN Judo Session.
It was a brilliant day filled with learning, laughter, and friendship, with athletes from both clubs coming together to train, support one another, and most importantly, have fun. Days like these truly showcase the values of judo and the importance of creating opportunities where everyone can enjoy the sport together.
We were also honoured to meet both the new Mayor of Greenwich and the *
outgoing Mayor of Greenwich, and our athletes were delighted to have the opportunity to have a photograph with them, highlighting the importance of inclusion within our community and in sport.
A huge congratulations goes to Isabelle, who was presented with an Achievement Award in recognition of her outstanding service to disability sport. This is an incredible achievement and one that is thoroughly deserved. We are all immensely proud of you, Isabelle—well done!
We would also like to say a huge thank you to Metro Judo Club for hosting such an incredible event. The day was brilliantly organised, welcoming, and full of opportunities for everyone to learn, grow, and enjoy themselves. Every one of our athletes thoroughly enjoyed the experience and came away having learned new skills and techniques that they can take into future training sessions and competitions.
Finally, a massive well done to every one of our Team Westerleigh athletes who attended. Your respect, excellent etiquette, and positive attitude both on and off the mat were outstanding, and you represented our club with pride. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves.
Thank you once again to everyone at Metro Judo Club for your wonderful hospitality. We truly appreciate the invitation and look forward to welcoming you to Team Westerleigh in the near future!

🥋Training Day with Paralympian Jack Hodgson🥋
On Saturday 6th June 2026, we had the incredible honour of welcoming Paralympian Jack Hodgson to Team Westerleigh to lead three fantastic training sessions.
Throughout the day, our Judokas gained a real insight into what it takes to become a Paralympian, learning about Jack's training routine, competition preparation, and the dedication required to compete at the highest level.
The sessions were packed with learning and fun. Our athletes completed Jack's own competition warm-up, learned how to perform a turnover from the very basics through to more advanced techniques, and worked on both Ne Waza and Tachi Waza. To round off the day, everyone enjoyed an exciting game of tug of war, where our Judokas took on Jack in the battle for the belt!
A huge thank you to Jack for giving up his time to share his knowledge, experience, and passion for judo. Training from a Paralympian's perspective was an invaluable experience, and every athlete came away having learned something they can take into future training sessions and competitions.
We are also incredibly proud of every one of our Team Westerleigh Judokas who attended. Your hard work, determination, respect, and excellent etiquette both on and off the mat did not go unnoticed. Keep up the fantastic work—you are a credit to the club!
Thank you again, Jack—we hope to welcome you back in the future!
