Job opportunity at Biggar Golf Club

Yesterday, Junior teams from Lanark, Strathaven, Wishaw, Hamilton and Biggar met at Biggar Golf Club to compete in the next leg of their Junior Sixes Competition run by the Scottish Golf Union. Thirty under 12s played six holes in a Texas Scramble format. There was a narrow win for Lanark with 125 points followed by Biggar with 124. Despite the damp weather spirits were high and a fun day was had by all.

Winners of the annual Joe and May Walker Tri-am 2026 were David Syme, Alan Carrick and David Marshall.

Sadly, we lost Joe earlier this year, so the Club were delighted to have May and her family present to hand over their trophy.

All money raised will be sent to the Charity of May’s choice which is Leukemia Research Scotland. Thanks to all who supported this cause.

Community Asset Transfer Update

South Lanarkshire Council has asked for more time to consider our Community Asset Transfer application for Biggar Golf Course and Caravan Park.

The new decision date is 11 November 2026, when the application is expected to go before the Council’s Housing and Technical Resources Committee.

We are naturally disappointed that the process is taking longer than expected. Before responding, we sought independent advice from the Scottish Government-funded Community Ownership Support Service. Based on that advice, the board agreed to the extension so the Council has sufficient time to complete its work and give the application proper consideration.

Our focus remains on securing a positive and sustainable future for the golf course and reopening the caravan park for the benefit of Biggar and the wider community.

In the meantime, please continue to support the project by visiting and using the Clubhouse. It is open to everyone, not only golfers, and all funds generated will help support the wider project. Every visit makes a difference, so please come along and encourage your friends and family to do the same.

We will share another update when there is confirmed news. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
