Herongate FC 6 - 0 Hannakins Farm Fc

With a few players missing today after a late reschedule of fixtures and our GK turning up with 10mins before KO because he couldn’t find his shin pads we didn’t get to the best of starts...... Typical Sunday league 😂

On a boggy pitch we tried to play our football but didn’t go to plan as Herongate played it over the top and Will Turner unfortunately gave a free kick away on the edge of the box. Lucky to get away without a booking they put it just over the bar....... this should of been a wake up call. It wasn’t. A few minutes later Herongate were 1-0 up with the same type of ball. Not being able to get the ball under control at half time we were 3-0 down.

Hopefully 2nd half would be better..... 1st 2 minutes we played with high intensity unfortunately it didn’t last. We played at a canter for the rest of the game and conceded another 3 goals, one right on the final whistle. If we want something from this season we need to start stepping it up for the last 5 games or so!

We could use this bit of luck 😂

Queens Park U18’s 1 - 0 Hannakins Farm

Interesting game today helping out another Hannakins team get ready for men’s football.

We tried a few things out today as it was a Friendly and the big talking point was Nick Sullivan coming out of retirement..... was it a good decision?..... it was 0-0 at half time 🤔. A good 1st half with some good chances for both teams. Carl Catesby had the ball in the back of the net but Will Turner decided to be a goalkeeper in their box and handled the ball before the ball was in the back of the net.

0-0 HT

2nd half was a different story, Queens Park started to get more in the game and was getting more and more chances and they got their reward and it was 1-0. Not much else happened in the game. It was a game played in the right spirit and all had a drink afterwards!

Nick Sullivan playing 45mins that felt like 90!
Carl catesby playing striker, midfield and defence!

Brentwood Eagles 1 v 0 Hannakins Farm

1st game back after the Xmas period where players and management was carrying a bit of extra weight we wanted to start 2019 on a high!

After a few chances for both sides it was a very even game and finished 0-0 at half time.

2nd half was the same, a tight game with a few chances and Brentwood Eagles took their chance from a corner when we switched off for the only time in the game a made it 1-0 with a bullet header!

Very quiet game for both teams and fair result should of been a draw but well done to Brentwood Eagles on snatching the win

Honourable mention:
- Nick Sullivan’s MOM performance in goals for 30secs
- Ryan Thornton cameo up front
- Ryan Thornton belly flopping the floor after being shot by a sniper!

Half Season Summary:

It has been a season of lots of transitions for the Hannakins Team, new management and new players.

It has been a tough half of the season but a big learning curve. We have been unlucky in a lot of games which we should of won.

2 very winnable games in the next 2 weeks can set up a good finish to the season. We have a good squad of players and it has been a joy to manage you boys so far! Let’s make 2019 Hannakins year!

Good night at the fundraiser last night. Thank you to all the local businesses who donated raffle prizes. Il due Barili new Italian bistro in Billericay high street, clairey fairies, Costa coffee, studio 360 and lastly The Forge Pub for letting us use their venue!
