⛸️💙 A HUGE congratulations to our club member Eden Hope! 💙⛸️

What an incredible achievement this morning as 8 year old Eden skated an amazing 5K around Billingham Ice Arena to raise money for her mum’s cancer support group, Hope Cancer Support Billingham 💜

We are incredibly proud of you, Eden! What a fantastic challenge and an amazing way to support such an important cause. 🌟

And she’s not finished yet… 👀

Next up is Eden’s dad’s team, Cleveland Comets Recreational Ice Hockey Team! 🏒 They’ll be taking on their very own 5K around the streets of Billingham this Sunday to continue raising money for Hope Cancer Support.

🏒⛸️ 8-YEAR-OLD EDEN IS TAKING ON A 5K… ON ICE! 💙

Something very special is happening at Billingham Forum Ice Arena on Monday!

Our Billingham Ice Skating Club member, 8-year-old Eden Hope, is taking on an incredible 5K ON ICE to raise money for Hope Cancer Support Billingham — and she’s doing it in the place she loves most! ⛸️💜

📅 Monday 28th September
⏰ 9am
📍 Billingham Ice Arena

That’s approximately 33.5 laps of the arena! 😱🔥

Eden has been a proud member of Billingham Ice Skating Club for 5 years, starting her skating journey at just 3 years old. With her coach Cathryn McCabe, she is currently working towards her Platinum Figure Skate Star Award.

But Eden’s love of the ice doesn’t stop at figure skating! 🏒

Last year she gave ice hockey a try and completely fell in love with it. She is now also part of the Under 10s Billingham Stars Junior Ice Hockey Team.

And there’s an extra-special connection to this fundraiser…

💜 Eden’s mum, Ann Hope, is the founder of Hope Cancer Support and also a committee member of Billingham Ice Skating Club.

So this challenge brings together two huge parts of their family’s life, the skating community they love and the cancer support charity that Ann founded.

And Eden isn’t doing it alone!

🏒 The incredible Cleveland Comets Recreational Ice Hockey Team are also taking on their own 5K challenge to raise money for Hope Cancer Support.

Please see link below for the Spin Spiral and jump competition on Sunday 25th October 2026 at 8am . The element will be Mohawk.

Closing date will be Sunday 18th October 2026 at 11am , please check with coach before entering. Skaters must be a BISC member and we will carry new memberships for the event forward for 2027 membership.

Junior competition is open to skaters 10 years and under.
Senior competition is open to skaters 11years to 20 years .
Adult competition open to skaters 21 years and over

Skaters must not hold any parts of BIS Level 1 and are members of Billingham Ice Skating Club and not competed in any Club quarterly or open competitions

Previous winners of the junior section may compete in the senior section providing they meet the age requirement.

The Competition involves a small routine (not to music) maximum length 1 minute 15 seconds and must contain a minimum of
4 Forward & 4 backward crossovers (both directions – complete figure of 8 not necessary)
Upright spin
Forward spiral
Waltz jump ( three jump)
Plus one other required element (2 on each foot left & right) from the following list

Forward and backward chassis
Forward outside edge three turns
Forward inside edge three turns
Forward inside mohawks.

A GOE mark will be awarded for each element will be awarded, and a mark will be awarded for basic skating skills giving credit for the overall performance. Additional moves/transitions will not be marked.
