For anybody that hasn’t been at class this week, due to treatment for my chest issue my operation has been postponed and will no longer be taking place next week.
This means classes will be with me as normal in the coming weeks. I do have a new date but also my chest is not yet better so whilst I’m hoping no further delays, it’s not out of realms of possibility.

Here you can find information and latest posts about all our dance fitness classes with Simon Keay, including regular class updates, special events and offers!
I've spoken to all classes this week so time for the general post for anybody who has been unable to come this week.
In a few weeks time I going in for a minor operation (hernia repair) that will see me unable to dance, teach or undertake any strenuous activity for a minimum of 6 weeks. Whilst I am doing my best to ensure all classes are covered and disruptions are minimal various complications mean I'm not able to plan too far in advance just now.
The fabulous Lou Wilkinson will be looking after my Tuesday and Friday classes through most of April and we are just waiting on shifts to be confirmed for her so we can look at May. I have yet to find a cover for my Monday night classes.
Given this, I have added what classes I can to April on Gymcatch (link to website in comments for anybody who wants to bookmark and double check) and will update further as soon as I can. For easy reference, below are the dates I can confirm.
Friday 5th April - 9:30 Zumba & 10:30 Zumba Gold at Egglescliffe Community Centre with Lou
Operation date - Friday 19th April
From this date onwards Lou will cover 9am Zumba and 11am Zumba Gold on Tuesdays and 9:30am Zumba and 10:30am Zumba Gold. Monday night Fiesta Fitness unconfirmed.
Friday 26th April - Both Zumba & Zumba Gold CANCELLED
May dates - TBC
As soon as I have further info on May and/or Monday night classes I will update this post. If all goes well I should be allowed back to classes from the start of June.
I'd like to thank everybody this week for your concern and well wishes. It's my first time being sliced and having general anaesthetic, so a little nervous, but it's a quick and boringly common procedure so as long as I behave afterwards (and my current inability to breathe doesn't force the date to be pushed back 😬) I'm sure all will be fine.
FRIDAY 15TH MARCH
Classes will be on at Egglescliffe Community Centre in the morning. I, perhaps foolishly, will be making a second attempt to ease back to some physical activity so expect you to sweat whilst I sit back and wave my arms at you all a bit 😝 as usual, if I fall over or double up in a coughing fit, just crack on (you hardly pay attention to me on a normal day anyways 🤣)
See you in the morning!
ZUMBA GOLD CANCELLED TODAY AT Egglescliffe Community Centre
Very sorry for short notice, had hoped I would sleep the worst of it off but my attempts to ease back to normality from Friday with a dance competition on Sunday have not been received well by my body and I've had a bit of a backwards step with this bug/virus. I'm afraid I do not feel well enough (not want to pass this on seeing as it hasn't passed as I thought) to teach Zumba Gold today and w be as not able to get a cover.
I will sort Gymcatch out shortly for anybody who booked and paid online and as always any direct pre-payments will be carried forward for you.
As I haven't been able to see my Tuesday class since I first broached this a couple of weeks ago, I just wanted to confirm that from April 2nd the Tuesday class will start at the earlier time of 11am and finish at 11:45am. This is due to a change in my schedule of both earlier classes and work commitments in my full time job. I know this was fine with those I spoke to at the time but hope it will work for everyone. Please do contact me if you have any questions or concerns about the change of time.
Sorry again. Believe me, if I could even potter and croak at you over the music I'd be there 😞

CLASS UPDATE
Whilst I am feeling a lot better the cough has settled on my chest, with horrendous fits that are flooring me and partly affecting my breathing. Aside from not being pleasant to be around, it also limits my ability to project for vocal cues.
Therefore I am taking another couple of days rest away from physical exercise.
There will be NO CLASS tonight at Marsh House Sports & Community Centre (I think I have already contacted everyone).
Zumba at Great Ayton WI and Zumba Gold at Egglescliffe Community Centre will be covered by Lou tomorrow.
VeraFlow folks, please check your messages, you have also been contacted directly and separately.
All being well I won’t die when I return to my dance lessons on Wednesday and will be back at classes on Friday!
CLASSES AT Egglescliffe Community Centre CANCELLED
Sorry folks, I am feeling really poorly this morning and no way I can teach. I’ll start messaging everybody shortly while I’m awake and will the necessary updates on Gymcatch shortly. Refund credits will be issued to those who booked online and payments made directly will be carried forward to the next available session.
Please spread the word as I always manage to miss somebody!
GREAT AYTON
Due to unforeseen circumstances, there will be no Zumba or VeraFlow at the WI hall in the morning. Emails have just gone out to all who were booked on and text messages will go out to all regular attendees at a reasonable time.
Apologies for the short notice.
Currently plan to run Zumba Gold at 11:30 at Egglescliffe as normal.
