Knee pain can be caused by many many types of injury. Whether you are an athlete, a regular at the gym, an avid walker or even mainly inactive through working at a desk. You will over time shorten, tighten and irritate the muscles and tendons in the legs and hips, causing damage to the joints when we become active or continue to train over a period of time. We are not aware when an injury is occurring until the damage has taken place. As therapists it is important to educate our clients on how to stop this from happening as prevention is key! If injury is in the begging stages the difference between getting it seen to as soon as possible and leaving it to just go away on its own or coping with painkillers for weeks or months without treatment will massively increase healing time and the risk of it reoccurring in the future. You will miss your knees when they’re gone! Imagine owning a car and never servicing it?.. your legs are your wheels, chassis (hips) engine (brain and organs) you get what I’m saying! We need to be aware of what treatment is available and how to correct or prevent injury. Maintenance treatments are a necessity!
