Did you see Adam on BBC Breakfast this morning?

Adam is a semi-professional footballer who suffered a cardiac arrest at home. His life was saved by his girlfriend Kat who took decisive action and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Adam was taken to hospital and put into an induced coma for four days. He made a successful recovery and is now fitted with an implantable defibrillator device called an S-ICD and is back playing football again.

The BDA have developed a free 1 hour short course in an Introduction to Learning Disabilities and Autism for dental professionals. There is also a trainer pack available for sharing the training with the rest of your team. This will support you in meeting the CQC requirement while awaiting the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training.

Summary of Introduction to Learning Disabilities and Autism This short course provides an insight into the needs of people with learning disabilities and autism, and suggests ways your team can make your practice more welcoming and reassuring.

The Government have now introduced a requirement for CQC registered service providers to ensure their employees receive learning disability and autism training appropriate to their role.
