A long-lasting project reached its culmination today. Graham Hayes has meticulously built a 1940’s designed launch at his home over a period of only a little over two years, achieving an astonishing level of quality and finish. After a final setting of her engine alignment this morning, she was taken to Liverpool Marina for her maiden voyage, where a group of members put her through her paces. It was fantastic be amongst them and to see Graham looking so happy!
The launch has a tunnel stern, with the prop set high up, enabling it to be used for landing on a beach without causing damage.

It was with the most profound sadness that we learned of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
She was the nation’s anchor and stay for over 70 years.
Our sincere and heartfelt condolences go to
all members of the Royal Family.

Our ensign is flying at half mast as a mark of respect.

Day 5: The Royal Welsh Yacht Club Regatta

Day 2, the Bangor Town Regatta, had to be cancelled due to very strong winds, so here are some pictures from Day 3 - the Race Through to Carenarfon.

Here are some photos from Day 1 of the Menai Strait Regattas on 1 August. This was the maiden voyage of Mermaid since her major refurbishment. She is seen here wearing sail No. 12. You can see many more photos of the event on the Menai Strait Ragattas page.

RMYC wins Admiral Cup!

On 21st May, the Admiral Cup was competed for by three boats from Tranmere Sailing Club, five boats from Liverpool Yacht Club and eight from Royal Mersey Yacht Club.

After an exciting race in very flukey winds, the final handicap calculation showed that the winner was the Etchells Disco Volante from RMYC.

Under a perfect blue sky, and with hardly any wind, the majority of the Royal Mersey fleet were successfully launched on Wednesday. A total of eleven boats are now proudly on their moorings and are expected to be joined by another four, plus our Mark Boat very shortly. We are looking forward to a great season of racing.

Our Competent Crew course completed its theory phase this week and the crew are still smiling!

The finishing touches are now being made to our boats and the moorings, the weather forecast is looking promising and we’re looking forward to launching on Wednesday and seeing all the theory being put into practice on the water.
