Real self defence is so much more than just knowing how to throw a few strikes
The fence is often recognized by the position of the hands, but the hands are only one part of it.
Distance, movement, verbal communication and awareness all have to work together.

Ki Taekwondo Birmingham - 5 years and counting!
Our martial arts club celebrated 5 years of existence this weekend. We ran a fun-based session that stuck to our formal taekwondo roots, with birthday cupcakes as a reward for hard work! Our members continue to develop as taekwondo practitioners and genuinely good human beings. This is encouraged through our focus on discipline, respect and integrity. 🥋

A little while ago, on Father’s Day, our club celebrated the bond between junior members and their fathers with a ‘Train your Dad’ session. Junior members spent time enjoying some taekwondo training with parents and grandparents. The adults were taught some of the skills that the juniors have learned during their regular training. Everyone was active, everyone had fun. Some parents may have been a little sore afterwards!!

We had a great club social yesterday at . Children, teens, parents all having fun and enjoying each other’s company. Martial arts training is often tough but we also ensure our members develop socially as well as physically.
Our younger members love a game-based warm up! This one encourages movement along with self-control (the hitting aspect). The lying position was progressed to include floor-based exercises to activate specific muscle groups and add a challenge.
