Just a note to anyone who still actively follows me.
The powers that be are systematically turning every dual carriageway in Birmingham to 30mph. Some are being posted with red "New 30 limit in force", but I have travelled along some that only have the 40mph ' gateway' signs removed along with the 40mph repeaters. Once the mobile speed cameras get to work, they will be rubbing their hands as you will be banged to rights as your only diffence would be "there where no signs". With street lights the default speed is automatically 30mph unless signs show otherwise.
I've lived and driven (and trained) around Birmingham for over 30 years and some of these new limits seem completely unjustified, lots of these dual carriageways are perfectly safe at 40mph.
My thoughts are, the innocent are being penalised, for the acts of a few. Please make sure, you check for speed limit signs and repeaters as anything above 30mph has to be signed, the more familiar you are with a particular road, the more chance you might be unwittingly caught out.

Another first today.
Travelling along a dual carriageway, with a trainee, minding our own business, in a 16 tonne rigid truck. Next thing, ordered to stop by a group of police.
Oh no, what's wrong? Didn't want to fail the attitude test so, "Hello officer, how can I help".
"No problem sir, the vehicle behind, had given our officers, some aggravation, so we wanted to make sure he didn't flee".
I don't know if I have unwittingly being part of a TPAC. Was a pretty sedate 30mph road incident.
Also later on in the day, spotted a random unaccompanied chicken, wondering around a busy junction.
Only in BRUM!
Got my work schedule for tomorrow at Action Training and I have a first!
Taking three trainees for test, in three different vehicles. First a 16 tonne rigid category C (old class 2), then an articulated lorry category C+E (class 1) and then a minibus category D1.

Well! Back at the Camping and Caravanning Club this weekend.
Great interaction with the trainees, oh and by the way, may be in promotional videos yet again! This time promoting the club courses. Autographs by appointment only 😆.
One of my trainees passed his category C first attempt today, completely different to what I was doing 18 months ago.
Obvious, he was really pleased😃!
