I create fun, mindful, and guilt-free ways for mums to take a breather and recharge—because you deserve a break, too!

It's been a while since I last posted.

One word. Life!

But today I had a lovely opportunity to get my grapes out at a local business networking meeting and it was so so lovely.

Sharing the power of pause and how - to quote Take That - It only takes a minute girl to get some mindful goodness.

Curious what we talked about? Watch this space, more to share!

I have loved the London Marathon since I was a kid and always watched it hoping one day I'd tread the pavements and roads of the course for myself.

In 2023, after years of admiring all those completers before me, it was my turn. Getting my ass around those 26.2 miles is easily in the top five things I have ever done but ridiculously it's only recently I've started to feel proud of it.

The reason? Comparisonitis. You see I went, I completed but was it fast? Nah. Was it even moderate? Also nah. But did I put 💯 effort into every step I took? Absolutely I did.

But for me, the opinions of others matter too much so rather than accept the achievement instead I got embarrassed by my time, which many people will say isn't a reason to celebrate, in fact I saw many people comment in running forums that people like me, rob proper runners of a place.

But the spirit of the London marathon is the opposite, it recognises that every marathon race is unique to each individual completing it. The ethos is everyone completes it, their way and that's all that matters.

Anyone running today or in the future, have the best day, enjoy every step and when you get that medal raise it high and proud 🤩

One of the things I REALLY struggled with when I first started getting my meditation on was how quickly the silence I needed for it would be destroyed by a knock at the door, a car zooming down the road or the usual a whining child who had discovered a new need approximately 30 seconds after I thought he had all of them met :-)

Then I went on my first proper mindful learning event and we were taught about soundscapes, how to utilise them as part of our mindfulness practice and bring us into the present moment.

Suddenly the interruption of sound wasn't something that irked me but actually has become my starting point for many of my mindful moments in an array of soundscapes from the morning birdsong I can hear in my garden to the sounds of the city when I travel there for events.

So if waiting for perfect silence is something that STOPS you from trying meditation or having a mindful moment - let that go and just pause to intentionally listen and see what comes up for you.

Wanna join me on the naughty step tomorrow? 😈

I’m going live for a mini moment of mindfulness (and mischief), sharing why timeouts aren’t just for kids—and how taking one can actually be the most grown-up thing you do all day.

It’ll be short, sweet, and totally guilt-free.
Just you, me, and a couple of real talk moments from the timeout corner

🌸🐣 Easter Sunday Timeout 🐣🌸

Happy Easter, lovely humans! 💕 Today is all about fresh starts, cheeky chocolate eggs, and maybe… just maybe… sneaking in a little moment of calm for yourself. 😌🍫

Among the egg hunts and family chaos, don’t forget this: you’re allowed to pause.

✨ Just for five minutes.

Step outside, stretch, breathe in some fresh air, and let the world slow down — even if everything else feels full-speed.

🌼 Timeout Tip: Whisper a quiet “thank you” to yourself today — for showing up, for trying, for being here. You’re doing better than you think. 💖

Wishing you a day filled with joy, chocolate, and at least one peaceful moment to call your own.

If you've followed me for a while you'll know I'm all about starting with simple and quick ways to get habits kick started.

From my son being very young my morning routine (and indeed daily dose of self care) starts with two strong black coffees back to back, served in my mug as big as a cauldron and a lady brandishing an axe on it to remind me of badassery in the world.

I time having the coffee while my son eats his breakfast, it's my best shot at the coffees being drunk in at least a minute or two of peace.

As he has gotten older sometimes I will take the coffees upstairs and just sit and be with my hot beverage. Contemplate the day ahead, what I need to achieve or some days I just listen to the busy-ness of nature outside my bedroom window.

The beauty of taking a moment is that we can gain mindful benefits in just a few minutes - or even seconds.

Which is great for the days that the cries of 'muuuuuuuuuum' seem endless.

But if you can see if you can find a moment of stillness with your morning brew.

Your mind will thank you.

Easter is quite an indulgent holiday so answer me this:

If you were to have a box of goodies just for you to enjoy, that felt like sheer luxury, what would be in that box?

Who knows I may just have something to make the wants come true . . . . .

I always remember being jokingly asked this on Good Fridays as a kid.

The joking sentiment being that if you hadn't, you might not get an Easter Egg come Easter Sunday - the horror!!!

The word 'good' carries a lot of weight when you are a parent. I have often thought and said things like I can be crap at any of my other roles but I need to know I've been a good mum.

In the baby years I still thought being a perfect mum was something to strive for, my son made sure to cure me of such aspirations of perfectionism. I'm eternally grateful to him for that :-)

I think we can also weaponise the word good when we think about doing things for ourselves. A 'good' mum wouldn't need time on her own. A good mum would never want child free time. A good mum could cope better.

I call bu****it on this thinking. Ooooh look at me dropping BS on Good Friday - no egg for me on Sunday!

Good mums get overwhelmed.

Good mums enjoy time away from their kids.

Good mums need a timeout.

You're a good mum so enjoy your egg on Sunday.

And if you don't have one yet, here is my permission to go and get yourself one.

When thinking about my why I have to go back quite a few years.

To 2020. Covid. Lockdown. A newly broken up marriage.

Contemplating life as a single mum.

Convinced I would fail.

Convinced I wasn't enough.

Desperate for help but scared to ask.

Needing a hand held.

And as it turned out, the tiny hand that held mine and made me know it would be okay was hand of my son.

My 'why' for life for nearly eight years now.

And as it turned out, I absolutely bossed it as a single mum too.

Not without learning a few things, particularly to ask for help but perish we DID NOT.

So my BUSINESS why is her - the version of me who didn't believe she could until she did. The version of me who cried on the kitchen floor when it was all too much to spin all of the plates. The version of me who was exhausted. Who saw the weekly food shop as a downtime.

The version of me who needed a timeout that didn't come for a long time.

I couldn't give her a timeout - so that's why I'm creating them for you, in this page, its services and message.

Timeouts all round!

What's this? An introductory post - but a video??? 😱

Watch til the end for a bonus timeout tip for when you are in the thick of it in holiday mode and the kids are at home 24/7

There's a joke amongst parents on the school playground that your identity stops being your name and you become known as [INSERT CHILD'S NAME] mum / dad.

Even more so with the teachers!

My identity as a mum is a key part of my business and indeed why I chose to run a business providing services and products aimed at other busy mums. I wanted to bring things in a space I hold empathy in.

Empathy is a top value for me both personally and professionally. To me I don't see the point of a life if I'm not understanding other people and finding a way to help them.

That's the bow that wraps up the things I create and provide, an empathetic heart and messaging that I hope tells you, I see you, hear you and most of all I feel you.

I hope that shines through on every post, product and piece of advice I offer out.

How about you? What is a value you live by?
