Meet Deaf Run Club, one of our 2026 Community Grant winners.

Founded by Chloe and Emma in October 2023, the club gives Deaf runners a space to train, chat and build friendships in British Sign Language.

Here’s the challenge: BSL is a visual language. When winter darkness sets in, runners can’t see each other’s hands and faces to communicate mid-run.

So the grant is going on running lights. Safer on the roads, and conversations that keep flowing after dark.

From Couch to 5K to half marathons, Deaf Run Club shows what happens when everyone gets to run on equal terms.

Deo Kato is returning to The National Running Show!

The ultra-runner and human rights advocate made history as the first person to run from Cape Town to London, highlighting the story of human migration from Africa to the rest of the world.

His “381 Days: Running For Justice” campaign also saw him commit to running at least 10km every day for 381 days, using running to stand up against racial injustice.

We can’t wait to have Deo back and hear more about his remarkable journey.
