Barnt Green Sailing Club The official page for Barnt Green Sailing Club Barnt Green Sailing Club is one of the premier sailing clubs in the West Midlands.

The club is based at Upper Bittell reservoir in rural North Worcestershire but we are only a short distance from Birmingham and the M5 and M42 motorways. We welcome new members of all sailing abilities and as an RYA Champion Club we pride ourselves on providing training for dinghy cruising and racing to RYA standards for juniors and adults. We have a fleet of club boats which members can use including Pico, Lark, Optimist and Cadet class dinghies. Organised racing at the club takes place all year round on Sundays and on Wednesday evenings during British summertime. We also enjoy casual sailing at other times especially on Saturday afternoons during the summer months. The clubhouse provides a bar open to members and their guests and also benefits from WiFi connection. The ladies and gents changing rooms and showers were upgraded in 2016.

⚠️ Weather Warning: Storm Austen is approaching! ⚠️

A yellow weather warning is in place for tomorrow (Friday, Oct 23) across the West Midlands, with winds expected to reach up to 55mph between 10am and 9pm.

Given the combination of gales and heavy rain, please ensure all boats, covers, and loose gear at the club are fully secured. With trees still in full leaf, there’s an increased risk of disruption, so safety is our top priority.

Please check the latest Met Office forecasts before heading down to the water, and stay safe out there! ⛵💨🌧️

Water Quality Update! 🌊📊

Here’s the latest breakdown of our water conditions:

Temperature: 14.3°C (cooling down compared to last week) 🌡️

Dissolved Oxygen: Very good at 105% 🫁

Water Level: Stable at ~200 cm below full (holding steady for several months now) 📏

pH & Phosphates: Stable and within normal ranges 👌

Ammonia (NAT): Within acceptable limits

Nitrates: Still elevated—we’re continuing to monitor this closely 🔍

Clarity & Algae: Water clarity is currently low due to green algae, but no visible signs of Blue-Green Algae (BGA) ✅

Overall, conditions remain stable!

Tag Your Trailer 🏷

For a period of sixty (60) days from the 10th October will be granted for all trailer owners to come forward and clearly tag their road base with their name and or sail number. Tags can be found pinned to the club noticeboard in the Clubhouse.

After the 60-day amnesty period, any trailers that remain untagged or unclaimed will be deemed abandoned and The Club will then reserve the right to take appropriate action, including the sale or disposal of such trailers, without further notice.
