August 23rd 2022, Oscar's very first time in a kart, a one off session at Teamworks Halesowen.
We raced together, both of us zero experience, Oscar destroyed me ๐ฏ
No practice, no coaching, nothing, he doesn't even watch any motorsports and comes from a family with zero motorsports history or understanding other than his grandad likes a bit of F1 on the tv.
Oscar is simply just a pure, raw and natural untrained talent and everything he has so far achieved is completely down to his own effort, commitment and talent.
This journey for us both has been life changing, life improving! It's given us a focus and goals we can work on together. It's given us weekends away, amazing father/son times and moments we'll forever cherish.
It's also been a defining factor in Oscar breaking free of the shackles laid upon him (upon both of us) by a very corrupted and cruel family law system which tried to force Oscar to remain living in hiding from us all out of the city with his other parent until he was atleast 16.
The fact his other parent prevented him from karting, from living this experience became the defining factor in him finding his strength in Dec 2024 to come back to live with me and scrap the family court power over him after 7 & half years of control over him and denial of him chasing his passion.
We'll forever be hugely grateful for this journey, for the people we've met and became friends with along the way, for the confidence that this has given Oscar upon finally gaining his freedom, this has been massive!
To everyone that follows and supports us please know that you're supporting much more than just a boy doing what he loves, you're supporting a father, son, nan & grandad who are all flourishing while making up for many lost years.
Thankyou, Lee โค๏ธ

Last night we partnered with Andrew...the owner of Custom Racewear who made Oscar's new suit ๐
It was TeamSport Karting's Sidekick 'team' event and we had booked on for only our 2nd member's night of the year at Birmingham to support our friend Charley Dawson (CDKarting) as he made his debut in a senior Teamsport event and hopefully we could help him get his first Teamsport trophy.
It was a shock when we arrived to find out Teamsport had already decided who the teams would be which would put an end to our plans yet still make for an exciting 'anybody can win it" event as it meant the fastest racers there now couldn't team up, so we had a better chance.
Andrew then introduced himself upon spotting Oscar's suit and asked "is Oscar fast?" ๐ I replied "he's the track record holder" and he said "ok that'll do then" ๐คฃ
This was his first time on this track so we gave him a few track tips for hot lapping and for defending and the event got underway.
Oscar would have a difficult qualifying session, he just couldn't find any clear space on track and he finished in P7 of 18 with Andrew finishing P16 of 18...but Andrew was given the dreaded kart #37, he never stood a chance, it's 1.3s a lap off the pace of an average kart, and even in his first ever race on this track he knew he had a dodgy kart.
Race 1, 20 minutes.
This time it was Oscar's turn to get a dog of a kart and when one of the other members found a way past him there were raptures of cheers from across the track from a group of other parents seing Oscar loose the position. Oscar finished P8 down from P7, and we don't know what happened, because what was on the leaderboard ceryainly didn't happen, but there it was...Andrew had finished P1 ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ๐ (he was further back behind us, oh well, we'll take it).
Race 2, 20 minutes.
Oscar now got a "yeah it was ok" kart, and he made 3 positions in 3 seperate moves in 1 lap, he was flying!
He got up to P3 but then on came 1 or 2 yellow lights and a large gap to the drivers behind unfairly and instantly dissapeared! Teamsport just don't punish this unfortunately, and it would cost Oscar.
Back to racing and (I need to review the footage) under pressure from the racers that had closed in behind Oscar thinks he fouled the racer ahead, it caused that driver to come to a stop and Oscar to spin out loosing a position or two.
The race was halted for 4-5 minutes, time that was deducted from the session and although Oscar had had the pace on the same driver who had overtook him in the first race and would again close the gap on him the race then dissapointingly ended.
Oscar finished P4 and Andrew, who's race I couldn't watch finished a very respectable P11.
It meant overall our team had finished P3 of 9 teams and we made the podium in 3rd spot.
A fantastic night of racing filled with drama, coffee, a sprinkling of trophies and nan & grandad's ongoing support, just how we like it ๐

I've made the thumbnail, now just got to make the video to go with it....see you all in another week ๐
18/05/2026
Goes live 6pm tomorrow on our Youtube channel!
The Date: April 11th ๐
The Venue: Whilton Mill ๐
The Action: EPIC!!! ๐ฅ
I won't give too much away other than Oscar absolutely asserts himself as a high level ranking competitor on his 2nd, and final, visit to Whilton Mill this season with Club100
A sheer willingness to get to the top of the grid see's Oscar take a P1 straight away in testing finishing ahead of easily top 6 competitors, from the off it was clear Oscar wasn't here to just take part ๐
But there's more to the story (the video) than just racing. We stayed over the weekend in a beautiful countryside setting in Daventry and had a lovely walk accompanied by the property owners dog. I've included a 2 minute section in the middle of the video which encapsulates what this father and son journey we are on is truly about โค๏ธ
Nothing is promised beyond the 2026 season so we're giving this absolutely everything we've got and living every single second of it.
I'm massively behind on editing due to the 2 weeks easter holidays (I edit while Oscar's at school) and back to back Club100 and Teamsport events....I am, as of tonight after Grid Series Rd5, 100+ hours of editing behind as I type! ๐ฑ
Wish me luck catching up, I'm trying ๐ซฃ

Cracking A final performance in a better kart seen Oscar climb up from P25 to P13 again mixing it with the elite.
Dissapointment is a part of this sport and we don't hide it when the machine just isn't up to the task, and neither do we hide it when things click into place out there for Oscar.
So in the A final it was a slower start, Oscar slipped back a couple of positions early on but would quickly regain them as others ahead went off track in what appeared to be a bit of a demolition derby having seen the amount of penalties handed out.
But then he started to find his pace, understand the kart and push forwards.
He ended up closing in on some karts ahead and got locked into a great battle, one he would eventually win after some solid defending once securing a great overtake.
+10 positions in any A final is a great achievement and after an emotional rollercoaster of a day we're again leaving heads held high and proud of our efforts...I say our because we are a team, Oscar's the talent and I'm the taxi ๐
Onwards we go ๐

Absolutely SHOCKING kart for the pre-A final.
There was a false start and already by the top of the hill Oscar was down from P12 to P23 I believe.
The race was restarted and he already knew he had no pace so he dived early to the inside line but too early picking up a +2 penalty for breaking formation.
The race proceeded and everyone just drove past him, despite plenty of hot lapping he was still outpaced by everyone ahead battling, he had the 2nd slowest lap of the race, slip stream was none existent, he was out the race before it even started.
Now we go into the A final starting P23 of 26 and very unlikely to match or better our best finish of the season at Whilton in North round 2.
Incredibly frustrating and believed we had left this kart selection horror show behind at Daytona Tamworth and Teamsport, but after Shennington last week and today's pre-final I'm very skeptical.
We'll see what happens in the A final, I think we need an ultra aggressive Oscar out there rather that an ultra careful and calculated one, we'll see how he responds.
