When the summer heatwave made high-intensity kicking a little less practical, our Saturday Afternoon Advanced Class at the USKA Fight Factory switched focus to fast, flowing boxing padwork combinations. The temperature inside the gym was soaring, the sweat was pouring, and every round demanded complete concentration, but our advanced grade students embraced the challenge and delivered another outstanding session.
Long padwork combinations are about far more than simply throwing punches. For the striker, they develop cardiovascular endurance, hand speed, timing, accuracy and the ability to maintain sharp technique while under fatigue. As combinations become longer and more complex, fighters must think clearly, make quick decisions and stay balanced even when exhaustion begins to set in.
The benefits extend to the pad holder too. Holding pads correctly develops concentration, reactions, coordination and communication while improving the ability to read movement and present realistic targets. Great pad holders are just as important as great strikers, with both partners working together to raise each other's performance.
Even in extreme conditions, there were no shortcuts. Just hard work, discipline and another quality technical session from a dedicated group determined to keep improving.

The USKA Fight Factory was once again packed with energy, determination and community spirit as we hosted the second event of our 2026 Charity Iron Man Competition Series.
With an incredible 76 competitors registered to take part, it was another fantastic day that perfectly showcased the hard work, enthusiasm and support of our USKA family.
Despite the soaring temperatures making it one of the hottest days of the summer, the support from our members and families was absolutely incredible with parents, friends and supporters cheering every competitor on from start to finish. It was another wonderful example of the fantastic community spirit that makes USKA so special.
This year's Charity Iron Man Series is raising funds to provide Solar Powered Submersible Water Pumps, Borehole Water Wells and Large Tube Well Hand Water Pumps in Pakistan and Uganda. These life changing projects will provide local communities with reliable access to clean drinking water, support agriculture and dramatically reduce the long journeys many villagers currently make each day to collect safe, usable water.
As with all of our charity events, this project is dedicated to the memory of our much loved and dearly missed students Khuzaimah Douglas and Azmat Yaqub, whose legacy continues to inspire the work we do together as a club.
The Iron Man competition itself consisted of six separate fitness-based challenges, with competitors earning points in each event. Once all six disciplines had been completed, every competitor's scores were combined to produce their overall Iron Man total.
Every child who entered received a commemorative USKA Iron Man Gold Medal in recognition of their fantastic effort and determination throughout the day, while the highest scoring competitor in each age category was presented with a prestigious USKA Iron Man Trophy.
Highest Scorers:
4–5 Years: Elijah Ellahi (267 Points)
6–7 Years: Omari Ellahi (270 Points)
8–9 Years: Daniel Kiss (311 Points)
10–11 Years: Musa Khan (300 Points)
12–13 Years: Isaac Dodds (348 Points)
14–17 Years: Isa Khan (381 Points)
Thanks to everyone's generosity through entry fees, donations made on the day and refreshments purchased throughout the event, we are delighted to announce that we raised an outstanding £1437.00 towards this year's charity appeal.
A huge thank you goes to every competitor, parent, family member, spectator, volunteer and official who helped make the day such a tremendous success. Events like this simply would not be possible without your continued support, and together we are making a genuine difference to the lives of people who need it most.
On a lighter note... judging by the temperatures, our charity ice pops were almost as busy as the competition itself! Thank you to everyone who helped keep cool while helping to raise even more money for such a worthwhile cause.

Team USKA Continue Their Busy Summer at the BLCC Ring Continuous Event!
There was no slowing down for Team USKA this weekend as our fighters returned to the ring for another action packed day of competition at the BLCC Ring Continuous Championships, hosted by Aero-Kick in Birmingham.
Fresh from an incredibly busy run of competitions over recent weeks, an 11 fighter USKA squad once again stepped through the ropes looking to build experience, sharpen their skills and put their training into practice under pressure.
Representing the USKA Fight Factory were Omari Ellahi, Aairah Mohammed, Daniel Kiss, Adam Mohammed, Rayaan Ellahi, Musa Khan, Isaac Dodds, Zayaan Raza, Julia Glowacz, Isa Khan and Sami Kelly.
The team was coached throughout the day by USKA Chief Instructor Neil Kelly and USKA Fight Coach Mushy Younis, who guided the fighters through thirteen competitive bouts from the opening bell right through to the final contest of the afternoon.
One of the highlights of the event saw two exciting five-round BLCC English Title contests featuring USKA's Rayaan Ellahi against home club Aero-Kick's Dinero Patterson and USKA's Isa Khan, who faced the highly skilled Alex Hobbs from Endurance Martial Arts Academy in Northampton.
It proved to be another outstanding day for Team USKA, who remained unbeaten throughout the entire event. Every fighter rose to the challenge with confidence and determination, producing a series of excellent performances inside the ring.
The day was crowned by two fantastic BLCC English Title victories, with both Rayaan Ellahi and Isa Khan producing outstanding performances to secure unanimous decision victories over two very tough and talented opponents in Dinero Patterson and Alex Hobbs respectively. Both championship bouts showcased everything you want to see in a title fight: heart, determination, skill and will to win, highlighting the technical quality and ring craft that have become hallmarks of the USKA Fight Team.
Days like these are an important part of a fighter's development. There is simply no substitute for competitive ring time, and every round helps build the confidence, timing and decision making that cannot be replicated in the gym.
A huge congratulations to every member of Team USKA for representing the club with pride, professionalism and outstanding sportsmanship. The effort, attitude and teamwork shown from the first bout to the last made the coaching team extremely proud.
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who came to support the team throughout the day. Your encouragement created a fantastic atmosphere and made another successful day even more special. We'd also like to thank the BLCC and everyone at Aero-Kick for once again hosting a well organised and enjoyable event that continues to provide fantastic opportunities for fighters of all ages and experience levels.
Another great day, another unbeaten performance, two new BLCC English Champions, and yet another memorable day for Team USKA.
Now it's back to the USKA Fight Factory to reflect, improve and continue preparing for the next challenge. The work never stops!
