Here are our tips if you want to start running today, in healthy way and to avoid long-term injuries:
1. Start slow and progress gradually π¨ - Donβt try to run long distances or high speeds right away. Begin with short, easy sessions and slowly increase your distance and intensity over time. Your body needs time to adapt.
2. Wear proper running shoes π - Invest in a good pair of running shoes that suit your foot π¦Άtype and running style. Quality footwear helps reduce impact on your joints and significantly lowers your risk of injury.
3. Warm up and cooldown πββοΈ - Focus on light movement and dynamic stretches to warm your body. Do at least 5min. After your running, do some stretching exercises.
4. Maintain good posture π§π»ββοΈ - Stand upright, leaning slightly forward with your shoulders relaxed and your arms bent at about 90 degrees.
5. Vary the terrain β°οΈ - Try running on different surfaces like grass, trails and pavement. This reduces repetitive impact on your joints and helps strengthen muscles more evenly. This option may be optional for those who already do muscle strengthening exercises.
6. Last and most important, join our running club: Paradise Pacersππ»ββοΈπ - We do sessions every Saturday at 10am. We also sometimes do Sundays (and other days, specifically when the weather will be better π₯Ά)
