From one sit-to-stand to 50 a day 💛
Lucy has attended Move it or Lose it classes with instructor Chris for several years, but one exercise proved especially valuable when her husband, Alun, became seriously unwell.
After losing a stone in two weeks, he was so weak that he could barely stand. Lucy gently encouraged him to try a sit-to-stand.
With help, he managed just one.
The next day, he did one again. By the end of the week, he had built up to ten.
Now, Alun does 25 sit-to-stands every morning and 25 every evening. He is back to gardening and regularly walks a mile to collect the newspaper.
And the tables have turned! When Lucy recently complained of feeling stiff, Alun suggested that she should start doing her sit-to-stands too.
“Oh, the irony! Needless to say, I have done as I was told!”
Lucy and Alun both turned 80 this year. Their story is a wonderful reminder that starting small and staying consistent can make a real difference to strength, confidence and independence.
Thank you to Lucy, Alun and Chris for sharing it with us. 💛

Not making it to class as much this August?
You’re not alone. Summer plans, holidays, caring responsibilities and changes to routine can all make it harder to get to your usual weekly class.
That’s where the Move it or Lose it Club can help.
You can exercise from the comfort of home, choose sessions that suit your energy levels, and keep working on the things that matter most — strength, balance, flexibility and confidence.
It’s not about replacing your class. It’s about helping you keep moving when you can’t get there, so you don’t lose momentum or miss out on feeling the benefits.
Try the Club this August and keep moving with us, wherever life takes you.

🥫 Be honest… how old is the oldest tin in your cupboard?
We’ve all done it.
You open the cupboard looking for something for dinner and suddenly discover a tin that appears to have survived three house moves, two kitchens and possibly the last century. 😄
Maybe it’s a mysterious tin of soup you don’t remember buying.
Maybe it’s fruit cocktail from a bygone era.
Maybe the label has faded so much that opening it would feel like a game of culinary roulette.
So today we want to know…
👇 What’s the oldest or strangest thing you’ve ever found lurking at the back of your cupboard?
Bonus points if it had a date on it that made you gasp. 😂
