What if age-related decline isnโ€™t as inevitable as we once thought?
Weโ€™re delighted to welcome Professor Janet Lord CBE to the Move it or Lose it Annual Healthy Ageing Conference 2026.
In her talk, โ€œGeroscience: a new approach to age-related disease,โ€ Professor Lord will explore how ageing affects the immune system, frailty, recovery and long-term health.
Sheโ€™ll also share why many aspects of age-related decline may be modifiable through lifestyle and existing medicines โ€” offering practical hope for healthier, more independent ageing.

Could you, a family member or someone in your community be missing out on financial support? ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š
Many older adults may be entitled to extra help but donโ€™t always know whatโ€™s available, where to start, or how to apply.
Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re pleased to share free resources from Independent Age , the national charity supporting older people facing financial hardship.
Their free support includes:
โœ… Financial support checks for people over State Pension age
โœ… A confidential Helpline
โœ… Specialist advice to help with applications
โœ… Free advice guides on money, care, independence and staying connected
At Move it or Lose itยฎ, we believe healthy ageing is about more than movement alone. Staying active matters, but so does feeling informed, secure, independent and supported.
This blog explains how Independent Age can help older adults, families and carers access clear, trustworthy advice and find out what support may be available.
Please share this with anyone who may benefit ๐Ÿ‘‡

Can one tiny movement from a chair really make a difference? ๐Ÿ‘€
The soleus push up sitting has gained attention because research shows this specific seated movement can help the body use blood sugar more effectively while sitting.
It works the soleus โ€” a deep calf muscle built for endurance โ€” and itโ€™s much more powerful than it looks.
To try it:
๐Ÿช‘ Sit tall in a sturdy chair
๐Ÿฆถ Keep the balls of your feet on the floor
โฌ†๏ธ Lift your heels
โฌ‡๏ธ Lower them back down
๐Ÿ” Keep the movement gentle and rhythmic
It doesnโ€™t replace walking or regular exercise, but itโ€™s a brilliant little movement snack to add into your day โ€” especially after meals or when youโ€™ve been sitting for a while.

What if one of the best ways to feel better didnโ€™t come in a bottle, an app or an expensive treatment?
What if it was simply moving your body? ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š
A major new study published in Nature Human Behaviour analysed almost one million hours of physical activity and more than 320,000 wellbeing ratings from over 8,000 people.
The findings were exciting:
โœจ Moving more was linked with feeling better afterwards
โœจ Feeling better made people more likely to move again
โœจ The strongest link wasnโ€™t just happiness โ€” it was energy
In other words, movement and wellbeing can create a positive cycle.
At Move it or Lose it, we see this every week. People may join because they know they โ€œshouldโ€ exercise, but they stay for the laughter, friendships, confidence and feel-good energy they gain along the way.
Our latest Turn Back the Clock: The Age-Defying Edit blog explores why moving more can help you feel better โ€” and why feeling better can help you keep moving.

Heading off on holiday? โœˆ๏ธ Donโ€™t forget to move your feet!
When we sit still for long periods on a plane, train, coach or car journey, our ankles can feel stiff and our legs can feel heavy.
These 4 simple seated exercises are perfect for travel days because you can do them in a small space, without attracting too much attention.
They can help support ankle mobility, encourage circulation and keep your legs feeling more comfortable while you travel.
Theyโ€™re ideal for older adults, long-haul flights, coach trips, train journeys or anyone who wants simple exercises for airplane travel.
Always work within your own comfortable range of movement and stop if anything feels painful or uncomfortable.
Save this one before your next trip ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š
