At Saheli Hub, we see every week how inclusive spaces can change lives.

“S”, one of our participants at Ward End Park, shared how anxiety and depression often stopped her from leaving the house. Through attending our Inclusive Cycling sessions in a safe, traffic-free enclosed space, she has found confidence, connection, and something to look forward to each week.

Our Inclusive Cycling Hub runs every Wednesday and Saturday at Ward End Park, with women-only and mixed sessions available.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, Saheli Hub continued supporting the wellbeing of our community through our monthly workshops.

We were honoured to have one of our community champions facilitate an engaging session on mental health, covering early signs, ways to manage challenges, and where to seek support.

This year’s theme, “Action”, reminds us that small actions can make a big difference to mental wellbeing. At Saheli Hub, we support this through our physical activities, social groups and workshops, helping to create safe spaces and stronger community connections.

If you would like to join one of our sessions or workshops, call us on 0121 446 6137.

Sometimes impact isn’t measured in numbers. It’s measured in confidence, movement, community, and someone saying: “I could barely walk… now I walk everywhere.”

At Saheli Hub, we recently spoke with Tom Walker, who has been attending the centre for the past 11 months. Through regular access to the Innerva machines at our Alum Rock Community Centre, cycling sessions, and community activities, Tom shared how staying active has helped him overcome chronic back pain and improve both his physical and mental wellbeing.

What stood out most was not just the fitness journey, but the importance of connection. From men’s wellbeing sessions to everyday conversations at the centre, the space has become more than a gym — it has become a supportive community.

Stories like this remind us why accessible community spaces matter.

Thank you, Tom, for sharing your journey! You inspire us all!
