πΎ NEW INTERVIEW | Ann Jones: From Birmingham Legend to Wimbledon Champion
To coincide with the Lexus Birmingham Open, we sat down with tennis icon Ann Jones to reflect on an extraordinary career and her lasting impact on the sport.
With the tournament's show court proudly named the Ann Jones Centre Court, Ann shares memories of her Wimbledon triumph, her role in developing women's tennis, and her deep connection to Birmingham and the Edgbaston Priory Club. Ann won Wimbledon in 1969 and was instrumental in bringing top-level tournament tennis to Birmingham.
This is a fascinating conversation with one of Britain's greatest tennis champions and a true pioneer of the game.

πΎ Final Club Challenge of the Series πΎ
Today saw the final Club Challenge event of the season, hosted by Warwickshire alongside the fantastic Lexus Birmingham Open.
A huge well done to all 56 players who competed in our 14 & Under event today. It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, effort and sportsmanship on court, making for a brilliant way to round off the series.
As this marks the end of our Club Challenge programme, we'd like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a fantastic season:
πΎ 20 clubs involved
πΎ 99 teams entered
πΎ 198 players competing
πΎ 88 girls and 110 boys taking part
These numbers are a testament to the incredible support from clubs, players, parents and volunteers across the county.
A sincere thank you to all the clubs who entered teams throughout the season. Your commitment to providing competitive opportunities for young players has helped make the Club Challenge such a success.
A special thank you also goes to Amy, our referee, for her hard work and professionalism throughout the events, and to Jack Smith, Warwickshire County Captain, who provided invaluable support this week whenever an extra pair of hands was needed. Your help and dedication are greatly appreciated.
Finally, thank you to every player, parent, coach, volunteer and supporter who has been part of the journey this year. Seeing so many young players enjoying team tennis, developing their skills and representing their clubs has been fantastic.

Today at the Lexus Birmingham Open, we were delighted to support the LTA Padel Network Event, held at Warwickshire Village.
It was fantastic to bring together 25 delegates from across the region to discuss how we can support venues and counties in growing their padel offering, while sharing experiences, insights and best practice from across the sport.
A huge thank you to the LTA for the opportunity to be part of the day and contribute to such positive conversations about the continued growth of padel across the UK.
We look forward to building on today's discussions and supporting even more people to discover and enjoy the sport.

πΎ 12U Club Challenge at the Lexus Birmingham Open πΎ
Rain may have arrived, but it certainly didnβt stop play as 44 players from 16 clubs took part in todayβs Warwickshire Tennis 12U Club Challenge at the Lexus Birmingham Open.
It was fantastic to see so many young players competing with great energy, sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the day, making the most of the opportunity to play at such a prestigious event.
A special thank you goes to Warwickshire Tennis Chairman Tom Barton and County Captain Jack Smith, who stepped into the breach this morning when our referee found themselves unexpectedly delayed. For a few hours they exchanged their usual duties for tournament management and somehow managed to keep everything running until the referee arrived to reclaim their job. Rumours that Tom is now expecting a referee's shirt and whistle for Christmas remain unconfirmed!
Thank you to all the players, parents, coaches, volunteers and officials who helped make the day such a success.
Tomorrow we round off our Team Challenge series by welcoming 14U players from Warwickshire clubs for what promises to be another fantastic day of tennis.

Lexus Birmingham Open & Warwickshire Tennis Referee Event | Day 5
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this morning for the Warwickshire Tennis Referee Event at the Lexus Birmingham Open.
It was a pleasure to welcome officials from across the game and provide an opportunity to connect, share experiences and celebrate the vital role referees play in delivering our sport.
With so much Warwickshire activity taking place across the tournament this week, there has been a huge effort from staff, volunteers and officials behind the scenes to ensure every event runs successfully. Today required a few adjustments to our plans to cover a staff emergency, and we'd like to extend a special thank you to Anna Hart, one of our local LTA representatives, who stepped in to support the delivery of the referee event so that all planned activity could continue as scheduled.
Thank you to all the officials who attended today's session, and to all those who continue to contribute to a fantastic week of tennis in Birmingham.
