⚽️ SUMMER OF FOOTBALL - DRAFT TOURNAMENT ⚽️
Football returned to it’s rightful home at Four Dwellings Academy this afternoon as UBMS FC’s ‘Summer of Football’ kicked kicked off with a 7-a-side draft tournament...
This weeks tournament was something of a family affair! Congratulations to Rouse Twins et al. for their convincing win (2W, 1D and a 3-0 victory in the final)! True to their team’s name, the twins impressed making mum and dad very proud. However, UBMS FC stalwart Max Gardner proved once again that he’s only out for himself with 4 goals and 0 (🙄) assists, emerging as this week’s King of Football 👑.
The ‘Summer of Football’ returns next Saturday and the theme is POSITIONS... Our money’s on the team of goalkeepers 👀

👨🏻MOVEMBER👨🏻
Woooaaahhhhh, we’re halfway there
Woooaaahhhhh, we’re struggling to grow hair....
We are raising money to show solidarity against the massive killers in men’s health (mental health and su***de, prostate cancer, testicular cancer) and last year we managed to raise over £2000! We are inching closer to that amount, and we’d be thrilled if we beat it so lets keep pushing! Also, stand by for another post tonight on our Insta (.fc) beginning a club wide Movember challenge!
Please consider either donating or sharing our cause, any help would be massively appreciated!

👨🏻MOVEMBER DAY 1👨🏻
Another year, another November and another chance for our club members to look 12 whilst embracing a clean shave. Take a look at all these baby faces as our boys begin their annual journey, which will see them grow some very stylish (and also very questionable) facial hair for Charity!
We are raising money to show solidarity against the massive killers in men’s health (mental health and su***de, prostate cancer, testicular cancer) and last year we managed to raise over £2000! If we can match that total this year, we’d be over the moon and sporting all of this silly facial hair would be worth it.
Please consider either donating or sharing our cause, any help would be massively appreciated!

⚽️ SOCIALS AND CHARITIES ROUND UP ⚽️ - Virtual Freshers Fair 2020
At this point you’re probably thinking “wow, these guys are good at football, but are they any fun!?”. Yes. You should trust me, but if you really enjoy reading feel free to carry on.
Alongside countless Fabs and TNL Stuesdays, last year saw UBMSFC enjoy 3 joint medic uni socials (Barts, Cardiff, Southampton), an international tour to Barcelona, a Freshers tour to Cardiff, a splash of welcome drinks, a few football family nights (poker, curries and FIFA), one grand Old Boys Dinner and last but certainly not least, a vegetable competition.
If that wasn’t enough to tickle your tastebuds, during lockdown UBMS FC organised a week-long 'Charity Strava Competition' against the other medsoc sports. By the end of the week, 454 of Medsoc's finest had broken their bodies raising over £25,000 for charity, running/cycling/swimming the circumference of the earth. The event is sure to become an annual feature and of course, we won... just going to leave you on that (see comments) - James Jobling, Charity and Welfare Rep

⚽️ 1ST, 2ND & 3RD XI ROUND UP ⚽️ - Virtual Freshers Fair 2020
1st XI - The 2019/20 1st XI season was unique in many ways. We went into the league season hoping for a high placed league finish but as always our major target was the Regional NAMS (National Association of Medical Schools) trophy. Before Christmas we had mixed league and cup form but produced notable performances in knocking Midlands league Gornal out of the Senior Cup and trouncing league rivals Ninevah 6-0 at fortress Four Dwellings. Our Regional NAMS campaign began smoothly as we topped our group, cruised through the quarters and then out fought, out ran and (thankfully) out scored Manchester to be within 90 minutes of our first Regional NAMS victory. However, it wasn't to be be our year as we were undeservedly edged out 1-0 in the final by Cardiff. Within 2 weeks of the final the COVID19 pandemic cruelly ended our season early. Despite falling at the final hurdle, it is hard not to look back on our season fondly due to all of our achievements and progress - Max Gardner, Treasurer (Formerly 1st XI Captain)
2nd XI - The 2s had a fantastic season last year, racing out of the blocks with 5 wins in a row. We also enjoyed a good cup run, beating a team from the division above in extra time! As the season progressed, we had some good battles with teams at the top of our division and the league table was looking tasty towards the end of the season. Unfortunately, COVID19 struck and the season was cut short. However, our position in the league earned us a promotion into Division 3! Hopefully a few fresh faces can bolster our squad to go again this season. - Lewis Pitchford, Social Sec (Formerly 2nd XI Captain)
3rd XI - The 3s had a great start to the season, a highlight of which was competing in a SEMS (south east medical schools) tournament and performing well against other medical schools' 1st and 2nd XIs. Following this, we had a strong season in the intramural league, disrupted as it was by covid, establishing the 3s as a force to be reckoned with. This coming season, new 3s Vice Captain Cameron Kendall has set up and entered the team into a new league comprised entirely of medical schools from the midlands and north west. We're looking forward to having plenty of fresh faces in the team! - Alex MB, 3rd XI Captain (and very drunk)
