A busy week for the club: home match against Stourbridge, two big "corporate" parties, and hosting inter-club match Hurlingham (London) v Bowdon (Cheshire)

A busy few weeks at our Club and our lawns are superb this year! We hosted the final of the West Midlands annual inter-club GC Robertshaw Cup with teams from Kenilworth, Himley and Broadwas, and then our own regular B level AC annual Sally Nicholls, with 12 players (five of them previous winners) from clubs as far afield as Keswick & Penrith in the north, and Downham in the east. Yesterday our GC plus 6 team of four were victorious in their match against Himley. We had a pitch at the Edgbaston artisan market to promote the Club, and we always enjoy celebrating a birthday or two. Now we are getting into the corporate party season with more busy weeks ahead. As ever, visitors are always welcome as we love to welcome new members!

Our landlords Calthorpe Estates invited us to showcase the Club at the Edgbaston artisan market in Greenfield Crescent. A fun day with plenty of interest being shown, particularly when showing off a new state of the art mallet!

Great weekend ace competitors looking forward to seeing them all next year - unless they've broken the -1 barrier of course! Full report on our website shortly.
The Tompkinson Shield has been played at Edgbaston Croquet Club every year since 2002, for Association Croquet players handicapped -1 to 5.
This year there were 14 competitors (12 shown in the one photo) managed as a Swiss by Andrew Gregory.
Congratulations to the winner, Mike Porter from High Wycombe Croquet Club with Roger Tribe (both on 5/6 wins) runner-up.
The great weather and excellent lawns helped keep the competitions smiling.
