The Taekwondo Team Saja is a community of Taekwondo athletes from different clubs to cross the borders of clubs and associations.

The purpose of the community is to share knowledge between clubs and athletes and, if possible, to compete as a joint team in tournaments. Taekwondo Team Saja was founded in October 2017 so that five athletes from three different clubs could compete as one team at the WTF tournament Gaiana Trophy in Ljubljana. Founder and coach Fabian Burkhardt set up the team together with Lea Wietschorke, Rilana

Well done to Shakira who won a bronze medal ๐Ÿฅ‰ at the British National Poomsae Championships

We are happy that all the hard work of the last few weeks has paid off ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

With Fabian's bronze medal from the Dan U30 team, we are happy to bring back two medals from this year's nationals!

Happy birthday to us โ˜บ๏ธ. 5 years ago it all started and look at us where we are now ๐Ÿ˜.

We had a fantastic tournament today at the Manchester Open Poomsae. Thank you to Grandmaster Shin and all the other volunteers for hosting yet another fantastic tournament ๐Ÿ˜.
Our two competitors Marianna and Fabian started their day by, you guessed it right, judging. After the lunch break it was finally time for Marianna's category, where she showed a great semi-final. After the final she can be very happy placing 7th in one of the hardest and largest categories of the day. Shortly after, it was time for Fabian's category, where he probably surprised himself more than anyone else finishing in second place ๐Ÿฅˆ. To round off the great day, Marianna and Fabian brought home ๐Ÿฅ‡ in Pairs.

Bonus, they ran into another fellow BSTF board member and had a spontaneous photoshoot with all the glorious medals they gathered today

Last Sunday our instructors traveled to Basingstoke to referee at the Bluewave Open.
Both of them had a fantastic time judging. For Marianna it was her first time as a newly qualified referee. For Fabian it was one of those rare occasions where he didn't compete, a fact that was often pointed out by confused athletes with the questions: 'Fabian are you not competing today?' and 'Why not?'

To which Fabian would reply:
'It is a lot less stressful when I can judge a whole day rather than running around like a crazy chicken all day trying to compete and judge'.

But don't you worry, Fabian and Marianna will be back competing (and judging) at the remaining tournaments this year ๐Ÿ˜‰. (You might see Fabian running around like a ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ” again)

Thank you to .kma for the wonderful organisation once again!

Last Thursday Fabian represented the University of Birmingham at the European University Games EUG 2022 in Lodz, Poland ๐Ÿ’ช.
He has put in lots of effort and training in the last three years since the EUSA championships and we are happy that it paid off. He finished 8th in the semi-final and qualified for the Final of the top 8. There he had to face the later gold medalist from Tรผrkyie. Despite the loss he delivered a fantastic performance and finished the tournament in joint 5th place ๐Ÿ˜.

With the EUG being a G-ranked tournament, this marks his best result in his Taekwondo career so far ๐Ÿฅณ.

What an end to his time competing as a student!
