We often mention improving the balance and strength for seniors and associate falls with older people or over 65's.
The UK's fall prevention guidelines advise older adults to focus on exercises which help them to build strength, improve flexibility and feel more confident on their feet.
But how is 'balance' important for maintaining our wellbeing and what happens when key systems such as the eyes, ears or nerve damage are impaired.
This is a great podcast by Dr Chris and Dr Xand's focusing on balance and strength and why helping our joints to move freely is the important for maintaining our core and hips for better alignment!

Drs Chris and Xand van Tulleken explore how we can improve our balance.

Why I choose to show up and give back.
Volunteering my time on the Advisory Board for Birmingham Adult Education Service is a commitment I take so much pride in.
It’s not just about sitting at a table; but consistently learning so we can do the absolute best for supporting our communities.
Recently, I attended the Education Inspection Framework training session on Ofsted inspections, toolkits and student inclusion and achievements.
I love giving my time to educational organisations that empower people 💪

Better late than never..
Third time lucky, and that was definitely the case with Andy!
After being booked in twice and having to delay, we finally got to get stuck into our 8-week program.
Working with Andy has been a true inspiration. Despite training with a lung condition, he never made excuses. He showed up every week, put in the work, and proved that "Iron Lady Fitness" is about strength of character just as much as physical strength.
So proud of what Andy has achieved in 8 weeks and pleased to receive this heart-warming feedback below.

Empowerment, Resilience and a Touch of Magic!
"A force to be reckoned with."
I’m still blushing after reading the feedback from my recent Guest Speaker visit to the The WI (National Federation of Women's Institutes) in Halesowen. Where I shared 'Birmingham's Iron Lady story', my goal was simply to show that an ordinary path can lead to extraordinary resilience!
We moved, laughed, and we finished with our seated sessions with whole room buzzing with energy 🧘🏽♀️✨
This testimonial truly warmed my heart:
"Naz told her story in such a humble way, but it was far from 'nothing special.' She is a real icon for women, showing what can be achieved with hard work. Loved her chair workout, and her voice in the cool down was magic—so soothing and calming"
Iron Lady Fitness is on a mission to bring this blend of inspiration, movement, and mindfulness to organisations across the west midlands region, we would love to connect with you!

Evidence shows, that globally only a fraction of people actually meet the recommendations of '150 minutes of weekly moderate to vigorous physical activity'.
Especially in older adults, climbing stairs can be affected by age-related changes, including loss of muscle strength, balance, visual changes and cognitive decline.
Health benefits of climbing stair's as an exercise routine can improve cardio-respiratory fitness and reduce your waist line!
Stair-climbing is FREE and accessible form of physical activity, where the body uses up to 10 times the required energy to when its at its resting or inactive state.

Attending the Food Poverty Event organised by Healthwatch Dudley and Black Country Food Bank was a great reminder that Knowledge is power. Especially when working with communities and delivering workshops around food and nutrition.
Many people want to eat better but don’t know where to start or how to manage it within their means.
Food poverty isn’t just a hunger problem; it’s a barrier which impacts everything else, especially the 'lack of access to nutritious food'
The biggest takeaway is that food poverty goes far beyond an empty stomach and creates a cycle affecting a person's well-being and mental health.

Fact: Women are the primary users of supplements and creatine's popularity is beyond just supporting muscle growth.
Because women are physiologically different from men (pre-menopause, pregnancy, menopause) these factors will impact how creatine is metabolised.
Creatine supplementation for women shows positive effects on their strength and exercise performance, especially when used during weight and resistance training.
