Some Cities CIC is a city-wide social project inviting Birmingham photographers, of all abilities, to share their images of the City with the world.
Some Cities CIC is a city-wide social project inviting Birmingham photographers, of all abilities, to share their images of the City with the world via a dedicated on-line platform. Simply add the hashtag #somecities to Tweets or instagram posts. We’re driven by a shared ambition to see Birmingham become a UK centre of photography, and by the desire to create an extensive digital archive of life i
n the city via user-submitted content. We truly believe that photography can be used to share knowledge and create opportunities for dialogues and understanding between communities, - both within the City but also further afield. Anyone with a passion for sharing and documenting their stories through photos – Birmingham-based businesses, organisations, individuals – can submit photographs as long as they are taken in Birmingham. Send your images to us via the submit button (the camera icon) next to your Twitter avatar, once you've signed in
Or submit images via the social media service Instagram or Twitter simply by using the hashtags #somecities and #brumfotos. Instagram posts can be viewed here: http://somecities.tumblr.com
If you don't have a Twitter account, don't worry, you can email your photos to us at: [email protected] with the (c) symbol + your name and any details about the photo in the subject line. Make sure your file names contain no special characters ( @ # + + (C) etc ) and that all spaces are replaced with hyphens. Please only email in jpeg files making sure that they are sent the right way up. When submitting photos why not provide some info about where, when or why the photo was taken. There’s always a story so why not share it! Any photograph you submit must be your own, if not, you must have the permission of the copyright holder to add it to the archive. After making your submission please follow us on Twitter
We’re also working with partners across the creative, cultural, academic and voluntary sectors in Birmingham to train and cultivate the city’s photography community through training, exhibitions, public talks, bursaries and sharing events. Some Cities is supported by Arts Council England, University of Birmingham, mac birmingham, Birmingham City Council,GRAIN, WAVE, Square Magazine and AG Photographic. If you’d like to have a chat about how working with Some Cities can be of benefits to you, your organisation or business, whilst helping to promote Birmingham, please do get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
