Rugby is one of the most exciting sports out there but it’s also one of the most demanding on the brain and nervous system. Head impacts aren’t just about the moment of the hit… recovery is where the real risk lies.
Our latest blog breaks down what the newest research is saying about concussion, recovery, and why returning to play too early increases the risk of all injuries, not just head knocks.
Here’s what you will find inside
✔️ Why symptoms fading doesn’t mean the brain has healed
✔️ How head impacts disrupt balance, coordination + the nervous system
✔️ What World Rugby’s recovery framework really requires
✔️ Practical recovery tools players can use daily
✔️ How ForceField turns science into smarter, safer training
Rugby isn’t just about preparing for the tackle. It’s about preparing for what comes after. And recovery is prevention in action.

Rugby injuries don’t start in the muscles. They start in the nervous system.

Stronger nervous system = safer rugby. Here is why:
Rugby demands split-second reactions, clean timing, and controlled power. But research shows something most players never hear:
👉 Injuries happen most when the nervous system is stressed, fatigued, or overloaded.
Not because players aren’t strong enough but because the brain-to-body connection breaks down.
When the nervous system is regulated, players move better, react faster, and stay safer during impact.
When it’s dysregulated, everything tightens: timing slows, muscles misfire, and injuries spike.
This is why modern sports science is shifting from pure strength → to nervous system training.
At ForceField, we translate this science into simple tools that players can use every day:
🧠 Breathwork that stabilises the vagus nerve
⚖️ Balance drills to sharpen proprioception
🔄 Reaction and visualisation practices that build neuroplasticity
💪 Recovery methods that reset brainwaves and speed tissue repair
The result?
Players who are calmer under pressure, quicker in contact, and far less vulnerable to shoulder, knee, ankle, and concussion-related injuries.
This isn't “mindfulness for athletes.”
It’s nervous system conditioning — the missing piece in rugby performance and safety.
If you want to play harder and stay injury-free, start training the system that controls everything:
your nervous system.
Let’s make rugby safer, smarter, and more sustainable.

Amazing story from Sutton Coldfield Rugby Club!
Last season, the club faced the same challenge as every rugby community – too many players missing training and matches through injury. But something changed…
👉 They started using the ForceField programme.
👉 We measured players with the Functional Movement System (FMS) – tracking balance, strength and flexibility.
👉 The results? Improvements across the board and a dramatic drop in injuries.
Parents were relieved. Coaches had more players on the pitch. Players stayed fitter, stronger, and happier.
Now here’s the big news…
We’re looking to roll out ForceField FREE to 10 rugby clubs for the entire 2025/26 season (RRP £800+ per club).
